From the research I have done it is optimal to keep your Simple Carbs, not particularly all carbs, low. Skip on stuff with all the sugar like soda, cakes, candy, white bread etc. The website I linked has a good list and explains it pretty well. However, at the end of the day its all about eating fewer calories then you burn, no matter the carb count.
