Ahoy there world!

This is Ginger, a bubbly, energetic, unpredictable chick that although is known for her spontaneity and positive personality, generally is quite laid back and happy to snooze in bed or stare at busy ants and bees for hours - without ever growing bored of just watching nature around her (or, in crappy weather - playing computer games, having multiple-hour-long baths, spending time with loved ones or just reading a book).

I'm almost thirty now, and up to this point my life was entirely academic: Laboratories, science, computers, books - these words made up my life... which generally meant that I neglected the more fun side of life: Photography (a major hobby of mine), fitness, outdoors, etc.
A bit of job insecurity (redundancy at ~23yo, just before getting married and just after acquiring a mortgage) led to me going from quite a healthy, toned young woman to the typical 'Oh look at the wog genes come out as metabolism slows down with age'. I never noticed it until one day, my favourite Gothic skirt or my favourite jeans couldn't even fit around my thighs. Aside from that, after waking up finally and comparing photos from back then to current, shock and disbelief hit me - making me realise that although I love science and making a difference to other's lives, I had to start thinking of myself first.

A bit of introspective meditation under a tree made me realise that I wanted a job with less indoor time, more outdoor time. Less brains, more muscle (the brain muscle was getting a little too big for comfort; so was my gluteus maximus), sunlight not neon lights. Speaking to ex co-workers who made some form of sea change led me to knocking on our fire-fighter department’s door to try and get a job - but BOY do the physical requirements aim high (But at least I still get to HELP people)!

Requirements to get in:
- 9.6 on the beep test (PB: 7.7)
- 2.4km run in under 11 minutes (PB: 13-14min)
