A couple years ago i decided to try the Atkins diet because nothing else worked for me before. Atkins WAS the solution... that is until I got derailed the next year with family issues. I hadn't reached my goal and was stalling and didnt know how to fix the plateau. Foreward 1 year later and I realize that I was feeling uncomfortable in my skin and my clothes. I had gained back half of the 40 lbs I had lost. Mind you, I gained back the weight not eating pizza, cake and unhealthy stuff. Nope. I was eating complex carbs breads, low carb fruits (only berries, kiwi and grapefruit in moderation),lean meat and stevia all the way. Basically I felt that I was on the Atkins OWL phase. So, when I reverted to induction the first week of February, it was not unknown territory. The only thing I changed is tracking my calories. I think I was eating too much and have stopped exercising. This time, Atkins is not rewarding me like the first time; my inches/cm are slow to disappear. Intermittent fasting and low carb really contributed to cut my appetite. Never hungry. But I read that I HAVE to eat or my metabolism will suffer and I'll stop losing weight. So, I'm trying to do just that and hope that it works.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Never. I use the tape measure.

torture from the fridge
Instead of the crackers for the crust I use Fiber One cereal. Worth a try for your next cheesecake. For now your only salvation would be to take the Carb Intercept pill if you are watching your carb intake or a Chitosan if you are watching your fat intake.

Great Intermittent Fasting Article
Thx, Drag! Guess what? I am not weighing myself anymore. I am using a tape measure. So far my waistline is 3 inches smaller! This IF system combined with low carb is really working.

Great Intermittent Fasting Article
Just joined. I discovered "IF" 2 days ago and did it yesterday although my family members thought it was unhealthy. I did Atkins 2 years ago and lost 45 lbs but regained 30. Here I am again. This time, I know how to loose; I have to find a maintenance system. I think that IF will be a good part of it. I wanted to fast from 12AM to 12PM but I was not hungry @ 12PM. On my version of low-carb (Atkins with less fat or Dukan with more fat allowance, I eat ONLY if I am hungry. So, instead of eating, I went for some exercise and burned 350 calories. I drank all day unsweetened tea with some crystal light powder. Guess what? I still was not hungry after the gym. I ended up eating 4oz of skinless salmon and a slice of tomato between 7PM and midnight. I decided to weigh myself every Monday in order not to see progress. I tend to be lenient with myself when I see the pounds melting away. Mondays weigh-ins work for me b/c if I see positive results before Saturday, I tend to give in to temptation during the week-end. Well, seems like this IF lifestyle combined to low-carb and exercise is working for me: it's 12:30 PM and I find myself still not hungry. Maybe it's just that I have all that fat to get rid off and I am getting energy off it. I really need to loose 40lbs but I am setting my conservative goal on 20 by April 30th. Good luck to you all! Carpe Diem!
