Hi from Ontario, Canada. I am a 63 year old woman. The pic is of my sweet furballs. I am optimistic that I can get fit and believe in eating lots of fiber hence my name Fiberoptics. I finally lost 30 lbs. after my stroke in January of 2020. And YOU thought it was a bad year.... so now i eat better and exercise since retiring, feeling great and looking great! I count myself as lucky.
********************************************************
We have to eat, so I find dieting a bit harder than just quitting smoking (a year before my stroke) but still I eat well and better, nutritious food. I find that planning and filling in the calendar helps. So does simple. And Variety.

Oatmeal with fruit, Bacon and Eggs, Cereal and Toast(or my sourdough crumpets) for breakfast choices. CICO. And I seem to eat more than I ever did!
Mackerel, bean salad , apple and nuts were a favourite for lunch. Did you know that peanuts are not a tree nut but a legume.(compare just as good too!) So are cashews.
Ground flax seed are a cheap source of ala to covert into Omega-3. Sun for vitamin D. Almonds for vitamin E . Making snacks with cereals which amazed me with their fortified vitamins.

Better choices, satiating foods make dieting much easier. I even drink on the weekends. Life is good.

Nutritional Info
I had never thought to add them up. Fascinating. I bet it happens opposite with diet foods, like less fat and sugar foods. We may need to be more aware!

Hey, everyone!
You seem to have a well thought out plan with realistic goals. Make every calorie count towards your good health. You are right in not continuing the boot camp regiment after surgery, both physically while you heal and long term drastic calorie reduction. My body rebelled and thought I was starving it and held on to the fat. I ate very well, but overdid the exercise, resulting in too much calorie deficit. We are all different but I hope to spare others from a setback and harm to their metabolism. Good luck to you Micah.

how to exercise with arthritis?
I lost 30 pounds on my own after a stroke with the use of an under the desk peddling which you can adjust the tension and go at your own pace . I got my mobility back and losing the weight puts less stress on the body. I now do low impact standing exercises (Fabulous Fifties) to maintain fitness and balance. If you can't do some, make up your own! Or just take time to dance to music that you enjoy. Try turmeric tea to help with inflammation.

Hello! from Canada...I am new here...loads of learning...
Hi my fellow Canadian. I found the "Accountability "program you pare participating in to be of great help in getting the fiber and protein required for health. It also keeps you feeling fuller longer when reaching the numbers. You can stay with a "diet" that you enjoy. It is more of a change of eating habits. Best of luck with your efforts.
