I'm a bit of a single mom with a double income. That pretty much means while married to a wonderful guy, he travels A LOT and so it's me and my three teens for a lot of the time. I have dealt with weight issues for what I think is the better part of half of my life. But now it's time to get serious. I have terrible knee pain that I know if I reduced some of the weight may get better. So it's GO time, time to get serious and the more fun I can have at it, the better it will be! I work full time at a desk job, so I don't always have the ability to get away for a workout on lunch. Right now, I'm trying to get cravings under control, then I'll add activity.

I live in Southwest Iowa and work in Eastern Nebraska. I was born a HUSKER even through I live in HAWKEYE and CYCLONE country :)

Breakfast Ideas
Hi Becky - maybe try some oatmeal with some walnuts (love them for the crunch) and some dried cranberries? It's something different and can get you out of the rut. I'm kinda in the egg white thing for the last week, but on the weekends I try to mix it up. I also try the Sara Lee Delightful bread (only 40 calories a slice and it DOESN'T taste like cardboard) with either a slice of cheese or peanut butter. Good luck!

I just started a week ago and I am starving
Hang in there .... there are days that I no sooner get to my office and I'm counting the minutes to lunchtime. My trick is sugar free gum and water. Seems to keep both the mouth and the legs (getting up and heading to the bathroom) busy until I can get to lunch. In a pinch, I try an handful of nuts in between meals or a piece of fruit.

WATER... The elixer of life.... but a very tasteless and bland one...
Hi Jiggles - while I don't know if this will help it's worth a try. I find that if you drink water (flavored with the packets, fruit or plain) with a straw, it helps it go faster. I learned this trick years ago when I worked at Weight Watchers. For me it's a 20oz. bottle sometime before noon, usually it's gone by 10:30, then I can treat myself to a diet drink of my choice for lunch, then in the afternoon I drink another 20oz. bottle (same bottle just refilled cause I'm a nut about recycling). I aim for a glass with dinner just to help out instead of soda or milk. The straw thing really works for me and quite a few others. And if you aren't at work and you are at home, (or just relaxing in an evening) I aim for drinking it during commericals if I am watching TV. I know, it sounds silly, but it works too! That way I can still watch whatever I want to, but concentrate on the commercials to keep it up. Hope this helps you out.

Eating Protein/Fat/Carbs
I always thought it should be split evenly as best as you can. I was concentrating on calories alone, but when I went back and looked why I hadn't lost, my carbs were WAY up there. So this week I am trying to get it more balanced and see if that makes a difference.
