Hey, I'm Lisa!
*Started fatsecret a long time ago, and it's about time I put some use into it.
*I believe in the healthy cleansing of your body every so often, and rewarding yourself with eating proper portions of foods that do your body good.
*NO calorie counting. I think that mindset slowly drives you crazy, and often results in a binge. When I count calories, food becomes my secret enemy instead of needed fuel.


~About Me~

*I'm in my early 20s, 5'8", and my birthday is at the end of this month so I want to look FABULOUS!!! I'm originally from California, but now live on base in South Carolina.
*I was in the navy (Hooyah 121!) as a nuclear propulsion engineer, but recently discharged for developing unexpected back issues. My husband is still serving in the navy so I'm following him around to his stations while finishing up my pharmacy schooling. He has been my best friend and foundation for the past 7 years, and I'm really excited to get to an amazing looking weight for the both of us and start a new, healthier appetite for food.

*I started college at 16 and majored in biochemistry, but my true passion has been learning languages.
* Currently I speak both German (lived in Germany for a while) and Swedish, as that is what my family speaks, plus a few years of Spanish.

Traveling-what now?
Oh my goodness. Everything about your last post sounds SO evil-delicious!! I know how hard it can be to go to places with heaven on plates, and no calorie counters on the menus. When that happens, I usually scan the menu to check if there's a small section for "healthier alternatives". If not, just try to have a little common sense when it comes to choosing your meal.

Remember: what you're ordering might have a lot of vitamins or protein, but if it's lathered in something or fried or all wrapped up in carbful bread, the justification is pretty much gone. It's super hard, but try your best!! If you eat straight-up healthily, you can just about eat as much of it as you want. With the more tempting (and savory) meals, try to set reasonable goals without going "cold turkey" -- doing that drives me crazy. For example: If you eat reasonably bad for you foods at each meal, try cutting it back to only 2 meals. Slowlyyyyyy limit yourself so you can mentally adjust. (because it really is a mental thing in ourselves). A bit more difficult, but you can also try having ONLY 3 meals a day. No snacking, unless it's part of your meal. It's super hard, but effective. Also, don't get into the "rewarding yourself" category. I was in those shoes for far too long. It's when you've been good all day, and reward yourself with cake or a fatty, greasy, yummy something. No no! This ends in disaster, and retrains me to thinking that healthy foods all end up to desserts of some kind. >.<

Blah blah blah, regardless of all that, be sure to have fun!!! Be smart, but don't let what you eat or can't eat, get you down. Sounds like this traveling adventure is going to be fantastic!! Very Happy
