Calories in is a simplistic and incorrect theory.
As if our bodies react similar to a test-tube and hormones have no impact.

So, if it isn't calories, what is it that determines fat loss/gain? You're just parroting what "experts" who stand to make money spewing their misinformation in the form of hypotheses say. We are not closed systems, we burn a different amount of calories daily depending on our activities. The calories out portion is harder to control day to day. The calories in can be controlled easily, however. You simply find a good range that will have you losing at a moderate pace through trial and error.

On the topic of hormones, as long as you don't do anything rash like having a huge deficit or avoid sleep, they don't have wild swings that affect your metabolism as much as you want to believe.

Eat lots of protein.

Dairy is good for you.

Stop avoiding carbs; protein can spike insulin just as much.

Feel free to eat white bread and rice.

Insulin spikes aren't bad, and actually reduce your appetite.

Fat can be stored without the presence of insulin (see below point).

Ultimately, weight loss is controlled by calories in, calories out. If you consume less calories than your body burns per day, you will lose weight."
