Started in 99 or 2000 in an attempt to lose weight and to get stronger. I was a weak 220 pounds and within 6 months I got down to about 160 pounds. I've been addicted ever since.

So, if it isn't calories, what is it that determines fat loss/gain? You're just parroting what "experts" who stand to make money spewing their misinformation in the form of hypotheses say. We are not closed systems, we burn a different amount of calories daily depending on our activities. The calories out portion is harder to control day to day. The calories in can be controlled easily, however. You simply find a good range that will have you losing at a moderate pace through trial and error.

On the topic of hormones, as long as you don't do anything rash like having a huge deficit or avoid sleep, they don't have wild swings that affect your metabolism as much as you want to believe.
