Start Weight
163.6 lb
Lost so far: 2.4 lb

Current Weight
166.0 lb
Performance: gaining 0.2 lb a week

Goal Weight
176.4 lb
Still to go: 10.4 lb
Finally started counting calories after resisting for years. Still trying to find my optimal count for my activity level. My lifetime goal has been to trim chest fat (yes I know you can't spot trim) so finally have to adopt another paradigm I've always hated. Cardio! Gahhh! Finding it extremely hard going chugging down on 2500kc of healthy food (it's a LOT of food!) but determined to give it a good go. I'm currently only 71.5kg's but feel like a bloated pig most days, will have to try and scout out more calorie dense food.

Hello! New user...question....
I think the best thing to do is pick a sensible ballpark figure and the adjust as necessary depending on whether you lose or gain each week.

Now I am GAINING weight
Hi. I just read your original post again. The reason it was suggested you eat protein bars may have been to do with the thermic properties of protein. This is a hotly debated topic but generally the gist of it is that protein takes more calories to process and therefore you burn more calories with less effort. However if there is any truth in this it would likely apply to whole sources of protein and not processed crap like a protein bar. A at a guess I mean I'm no expert by any means.

Why isn't "sex" listed under exercises?
Guessing you can't add your own exercises like you can with food. If not your best bet is to use the exercise that comes closest to the motion you're performing. Plank raises anyone lol....

Artificial sweetener
Not generally. There was a brief bit of controversy about artificial sweetners stimulating the body's insulin response and being really no better than sugar but I think that has been disproved. Or it was only one particular sweetner that did it or something. Of course some are better than others and there are health concerns with some of them also. I think the natural ones like Stevia are best if you are going to go down that road. And of course they don't count toward your carb count for the day....
