Well I finally broke the Daniel Fast. It happened in a weird way, not really planned. I really liked how it was going, so I couldn't decided how long I was going to do it. I felt great progress in losing a couple pounds and also in how I felt. So what happened you might say...I am buried in projects up to my knees and NO TIME to go grocery shopping and ran out of things I could eat! (fruit nuts and veggies) and that's how it ended! I ate bread cuz I was starving!

Since then I'm not really doing anything differently. I have eaten a granola mixed with nuts and fruit, but I continue to stick to natural foods. I'm not ready to go back to meat or dairy and have been considering sticking to vegetarianism as I did before the Atkins.

Now that all the reporting is done; HOW ARE YA PEOPLE DOING OUT THERE??? DID YOU MISS ME?? Do you need me to go and stomp all over your journal just so that you know i care!? OK! I'm coming over!!!

DAY 14!!! I'M STILL ALIVE!!
I oughta be crazy to be sitting here writing a journal on Saturday morning! I KNOW how you all disappear and head for the hills so I might as well be talking to myself! LOL I'M NOT OK WITH THAT!

the fast thing is still going strong. Yesterday I was making spaghetti sauce for the family and was mindlessly talking on the phone, and for the first time since this journey began, I took a bite of the sauce to taste, meat and all! I don't know...I sure hope that won't ruin my fast! My friend cheated BAD half way thru her Atkins induction and I made her start all over! I sure hope she doesn't make ME start all over! lol

I am still discovering that this fasting is doing some pretty interesting things to me! I can't descrive how healthy I am feeling! I can have whatever fruit and veggies I want in their natural form. I can have whatever nuts I desire. At first...the nuts were flying into my mouth as the convenient go-to food but I'm well adjusted now and eat them within reason. I have discovered great ways to cook veggies and I get to add POTATOES to the stir-fry! It's all very filling and delicious! I also found that Trader Joes has these meatless "meatballs" made of chickpeas and other veggies, which TASTE AWESOME and fulfills that desire to have something meat-like on your plate. I've never been happier.

I might stay Daniel-like as a way of life. After this fast I'll put Rice Milk back into my diet for a good source of calcium and then it will be completely balanced!

Well, I guess I'll see you all on Monday when you get back from the hills! :( sniff...you left me alone to fend for myself!

THIS IS DAY 12 OF THE DANIEL FAST!

well, in case you all were wondering, i'm still plugging along on the fast. I think i'm going to finish the entire 21 days, as it's not so hard as it was in the beginning. For those of you who do not know what this fast it all about, it's in the Bible, the book of Daniel. Daniel does this fast of nothing but fruit, nuts and vegetables, to prove to his captor that he would be healthier than the other subjects, who were dining on unpure delicacies of that time period. He also used this fast as a cleansing method in another section of that book. So...here I am 12 days later, all Daniel-like and detoxed from dairy, processed foods, meat, grains, sugar, or anything else that has crept into our modern daily diets!

I have to say that the journey has been a bit of a struggle but overall it has been worth it. I didn't do this as a diet thing, but as it was intended to be; a fast for spiritual cleansing. Fortunately, it has killed two birds with one stone, though! I've lost weight, but the good kind of weight loss, where FAT has been the only thing melting off and in all the right places! I learned something! I feel better!! Mental clarity is at its best, digestive system working properly and no longer sluggish. The best part is that I'm energetic and bouncy (I've always been that way, but it's even stronger than before!)

My recommendations; TRY IT! you'll lose weight fo sho!
