Walking DVDs or Tapes
The walking DVD's I use are Leslie Sansone. Walk Away The Pounds. Been doing her DVD's since October 17 and I have gone from 178 to 135. Exercising everyday, no day off, and eating right for my body. The thing with exercise is you need to not look at it as a weightloss tool or you might stop after you reach your goal. Look at it as a way of living, like you need sleep and food. You need movement to keep going. It has been so simple and easy to stay motivated and exercise. I don't dread it. It is now a part of my life like sleeping. I don't do strenuous exercises everyday, I walk everyday. I just started adding Pilates and free weights to tighter up areas that need it. Wal-Mart has great prices on her DVD's in the sports section or in the videos.

Pilates
Does anyone know much about Pilates? I read where you shouldn't start it until you are at least 10 lbs away from your goal. Is this true? If you have tried it, what has been the benefit of it for you?

alli
I tried it and I couldn't do it longer than 3 days. It was a horrible experience with me. I need to add that to my list of diets I have tried. It is true that if you eat any fat it will come out as oil and it is not normal! I just couldn't take it any longer than 3 days and then it took 2 days before I was normal again.

The Heavyweight Fight: Genetics versus Environment
It's easy to argue that lifestyle choices and lack of willpower are responsible for weight problems (it's the argument that lean people tend to make). But it doesn't explain the 95 percent failure rate after two years of people who have lost 50 lbs or more; they had plenty of willpower to lose but regained the weight nonetheless. The waist control game requires 2 players - environment and genetics. Even if your genes have made you predestined for a life of taking up 2 seats, that doesn't mean you should abdicate control over your body. When you make the right behavioral and biological changes that has been outline, you'll be able to stay healthy and avoid the bad side effects of excess weight, like diabetes, high blood pressure, and arterial inflammation. Waist management still falls on you, to improve your environment and your behaviors so that your genetics can work for you, not against you.

Are YOU nuts?
Eating nuts does not create the calorie intake that you might expect, because 5 percent to 15 percent of the calories are not absorbed by the intestinal system. That's because the nuts' skin and how well we chew nuts influence digestion. An added bonus: The slow release of calories throughout the intestinal system leads to prolonged satiety.
The best nuts to eat? Walnuts and Almonds.
