I am a 43 old working mom and have been overweight most of my life. Not overly fat, but out of shape and very unhealthy. I've always said my 2 favorite foods are butter & salt! I need to get healthy and would love to look good in a bathing suit for once in my life. I'm hoping this will give me the push and accountability I need to achieve both! :)
Update: I'm almost to my goal weight, and have managed to maintain a healthier weight & lifestyle for over 7 months now :)

Incentive
It's a great incentive and reward! Just be sure it's an outfit that only needs several lbs lost to fit well. Anything more may end up being a let down and waste of $. It's all about baby steps, besides once that one fits you, you can get a new incentive outfit! Very Happy

Diet Soda...YIKES!!
I've replaced diet soda with plain soda water over ice & a splash of cranberry, pomegranate or orange juice with a big slice of lemon or lime. It's pretty yummy, and now the diet sodas don't even taste that great to me. If I go out for the night, I add a lil vodka Very Happy

How is Weight Watchers and where did my motivation go?
I am a single Mom with 3 daughters & basically the same routine SmileEvery little bit you can squeeze in helps. Try doing crunches in bed in the am & pm (50-?), and some push ups (25-?) (I just use the bathroom counter for my "girl push ups"Wink before brushing your teeth morning and night. Increase as you can. I actually have hand weights at work, and squeeze in another 10 min there (and my arms now look awesome...took 3 months but I'm so happy!) It's a start and really helped me.
Weight Watchers is great if you have someone to do it with. If your friend already belongs, maybe she could just lend you some of the material to get you started and it wouldn't cost a thing? The support at the meetings and weigh ins is pretty good though.
As for the mother in law situation...good luck ugh...

Wow...
Totally why I love this site!!! It's a badly needed reality check for most of us!!! This lil cupcake can't have that many calories...Lol!

How Many Reps and Lbs?
Well I wish I read this months ago! I do more reps with lower wts, and am now finding out it's not the way to go?! I have toned and defined my arms, but feel I could have probably done it a lot quicker with all this advice. Will try it out starting today!! Thanks!
