I am a mom of two. I have always been chubby, and maintained the same weight of 180-185 for 6 years. But that has gotten away from me and in the last couple of years I've been struggling in my 220s. Part of that is thyroid issues, and part of that is pregnancies that include bedrest, but those are just excuses.
The truth is I have a husband and two kids who love me and deserve a mom with more energy. Not only are my kids and husband missing out on the best version of me, I'm missing out on the best version of me. I'm missing out on things I would be more willing to do if I wasn't concerned about how I would do them. i.e. getting stuck going down a slide with my son or worrying that a 5 mile hike with my husband is too long and I won't make it because doing it at 225 pounds is way harder than it would have been to do it when I was only 180.
It is time to lose weight and 180 isn't my goal anymore a 34 inch waist is and I'm thinking that will be around 140lbs. My weight loss doctor told me that health experts are finding that weight isn't as accurate a predictor for health as waist circumference and that those over 34 inches are at greater risk of heart disease, diabetes etc than those 34 inches and under. And sure I want to look good, but more than that I long to be healthy. My family deserves a healthy wife and mom. And so here I am ready to start and continue on this journey and it doesn't end when I reach my goal.

Creating Recipes
I too would like this too. I try to cook non-processed foods and make my pasta, bread, etc from scratch. Or this weekend my son wanted to bake and we made lemon sugar cookies and I have no idea how many calories are in a cookie. Yesterday my treat was 1 cookie and I couldn't find a way to enter the recipe in order to have the correct calorie amount. Therefore, I found a calorie amount for a store bought cookie and added 1.5 cookies yesterday because there was no way it was only 96 calories for a cookie. But it sure would be nice to know for sure.
I'm new to this site and so is my husband, but we are committed to getting healthy for our futures and little tips like this would make this a great deal easier.
