Lost so far: 8.4 lb

Current Weight
179.6 lb
Performance: losing 4.9 lb a week

Goal Weight
155.0 lb
Still to go: 24.6 lb
Simply put, I struggle with losing weight and keeping it off. I'm 48, happily married and the mother of 3 girls. My highest weight was 195 and I could not believe how I let that happen. I've tried WW and Calorie Counting (MFP) and going to gym and Zumba. I lost 25 pounds just over a year ago. But regained most of it.
My goal is to reach a healthier weight of at least 160 and to achieve a lifestyle that is doable so I stop this lose/gain cycle.

????
I meant to add that if you maintain a calorie intake of 1400 to 1500, you will lose weight the proper way- slow and steady, but it will be easier to maintain.

I am currently on WW points plus, but have followed WW at different times. I am not sure what plan you are following- old/new. Either way you need to eat most, if not all of your points. You are starving yourself. I just took a brief nutrition class: To function on a daily basis, your body needs a certain number of calories (Weight x 8 + 200), for my weight its 167 x 8 + 200= 1536. What I also learned, is that it takes 3500 calories thru exercise (in a week) to lose one pound. This is walking, running in addition to your normal everyday activity. The nutrition plan also said to limit your starches, increase your veggies. I agree with Frostylady also, the WW plan is to eat healthier and take in fruits and veggies. If you starve yourself at 700 calories or below- you will start to lose muscle mass. Try incorporating strength training into your regime- increased muscle mass burns more calories. And measure yourself, you may increase muscle mass, not lose weight but lose inches at first. Good luck

New Weight Watchers
I agree with Gilmore Girl: I like the new system better. My hunger seems to be be more satisfied and I noticed that my daily calorie intake was closer to what it should be than on the previous version. I like the fact that fruits are free. I just think the new system seems to take in account making healthier choices.

However, I did lose 30 pounds on the old system.

Just a note: I did read about processed "Zero" foods yesterday. the site stated to limit these to 5 per day. But also listen to your body- if you are plateauing cut back on these "Zero" foods. The only true zero food is fruit/veggies.

Pictures
I definitely felt more motivated after seeing other's weight loss journey through pictures. So I did it for myself. It does inspire me to make better choices most of the time Smile I won't post me in a bathing suit on any site; but I printed out a picture for myself. I can't wait to lose my remaining weight and then take that bathing suit shot again!!! I still can't believe I had let my weight go up 60 pounds. I am just so proud of all of you that have lost weight and give us all motivation!! Keep it up!

New WW Propoints Plan
I believe I read that the protein will play into the calculation. For eg. the the points for chicken breast will be different than something non-protein that has the same calories, fat, fiber. It should be interesting. Great job on the weight loss!
