Well, my goal was to get to 125 pre my New Orleans trip (so i had room to happily gorge without guilt) -and i was thus mostly very very good, but didn't get there. Nope, was 126.5 pre trip. Still went to NOLA and ate ALL the things (no guilt), and (duh) gained some weight as expected after a week of pure indulgent fun (was 128 on return). But now, a week after the trip - boom -suddenly 125 -like a gift from the weight loss gods. was 125 yesterday too but didn't believe it - but today, 124.8 -so 125 again. yay :) but odd. I assume maybe pretrip i had slowed in weightloss cuz my body had gotten used to such a low calorie intake (?) -then because i had a week of ridiculously high calories (ridiculously high -as in Sucre bakery everyday for treats plus big southern meals, and wine and/or cocktails everyday)-and so it was easier to drop, fast, when i got home and went 'back to normal' LCHF and low cal? who am i to question the benevolence of the weight loss gods, but seems weird. awesome, but weird. we'll see if it holds. am being pretty good :) so hopefully it will not only hold, but keep dropping. we will see. . .

"Dear carbs, i have enjoyed our glorious time together and i will truly miss you. . .but i think we should take a break."

So the good news is i did not gain a whole tonnage of weight back given the past 10 days in carb land. My friend had a bday and requested that i make her a duck fat filled and carb rich white bean cassoulet and an insanely delicious dark chocolate raspberry pudding cake for her party (red wine mandatory), my grad student received her PhD and we went to a blow out celebratory dinner of her favorite truffled pasta (with champagne and multiple desserts to boot), and another friend passed her national DVM boards (like the bar exam, but for veterinarians) and chose a gourmet pizza place for her celebration. so much celebrating. so much carby carby goodness. so few "good" days consisting of eggs and cheese and nuts and salad and time on the elliptical to try to do damage control before the next known carb blowout.
i don't anticipate march being a month so full of celebrations (though in truth, i will celebrate a friend's success every time, so if there are celebrations, well yay, and i will happily make or eat anything requested then get on the elliptical)...but realistically, i think its back to normal life now and < 35 net carbs/day. . . *sigh*

new goal -get under 125 before i take a trip (full of fun eating and i'm sure at least a lb of weight gain) to new orleans for a friend's bday in 5 weeks. i think it is possible, if i am very very disciplined.

Well, my weight loss has slowed a little, but that's totally ok with me. If i can lose .5-1 lb a week, i'll be just fine...i have until May to reach my goal. The hubs has slo lost 13 lbs at this point -so kudos to both of us for sticking to the diet. We scheduled a 'eat all the things' day for Valentine's Day, and then we will be 80% LCHF,and 20% of our meals will be higher carb if we want them to be (but not high carb, just higher than we have been -like sushi rolls with rice, or a burger and fries and a glass of wine every now and then). I've been eating a few more carbs this past week (still trying to keep it under 50 net carbs)-and that small difference sure makes working out easier. Also made a lunar new year's feast for friends, and so had a few more carbs to celebrate Chinese New Year (but successfully resisted making/eating dumplings, so kudos to me). :)
Will be watching my weight and food intake like a hawk after Valentine's Day, and if i start gaining (or plateau) then I'll know 80/20 should be more like 90/10 and will adjust :)
