How does everyone know they are in ketosis? Meters? Strips? Just curious...

I use strips...but understand ...and know...sometimes they do not show accurately how well one is doing...that is if you drink a lot of water...

Well then, they would be pretty accurate for me! LOL! I had them once a long, long time ago. I believe they needed to be done first thing in the morning for more accuracy. I was actually part of a "test" group - that's how old I am...

I rely on two indicators... the particular smell when certain fluids leave the body and/or hitting the two-hour, no-energy barrier while doing yardwork.

Yes, when I am in ketosis, The main indicator is that my sweat smells different. I don't know, I think over the years there must be a bunch of indicators that I'm just not real aware of consciously. I had just read an article about protein and ketosis and the guy had a meter that he was testing with. A meter was surprising to me...that's pretty gung-ho!

This is an old topic... but I use the Keto-Mojo blood tests once in awhile. Yes, they are expensive. Since I've been doing keto for only a couple of months, I'm still learning about the aroma of the fluids leaving the body...lol. Wink I *DO* know that if I bump myself out of keto on a day, I feel very hungry for about 2 days following... then I'm back to good. I'm assuming that I'm in keto when the hunger feelings subside.

I use the Keto-Mojo blood meter every now and then. My breath gets a funny Oder/taste. I've never noticed my sweat smelling different.
