First, read the book titled, 'Grain Brain' by Dr. David Perlmutter. It will be eye opening!

This is an easy diet to follow, but does take a little getting used to. I do eat out, but track EVERYTHING that goes into my body through Fatsecret. If I cannot count the nutrition value, I do not eat it.

About / History

I have Type II diabetes that was way out of control. I immediately went on this diet and - within 2 weeks - all my numbers were completely normal. I feel amazing and my b/s stays in healthy zone, even if I stray once in a great while.

bonsai808's top tips

1.Stay under 80 grams of carbohydrates per day. This is critical and the most important restriction on this diet. And remember, 60 grams is often less than a single piece of white bread.
2.I try to stay between 1,300 and 1,700 total calories a day. Of course, this is going to differ depending on your health, current weight, activity level and objectives.
3.I always try to eat more than 100 grams of protein a day. This is vital and the main source of nutrition for my body.
4.I have 3-4 glasses of red wine per week. This helps me maintain my glucose levels - and tastes great too!
