kingkeld's Journal, 29 June 2012

Good morning!

I slept like a ROCK, so be warned! Long journal and I am in an AMAZING mood! Bring it on, Friday. Gloves are off!

Yesterday was a GREAT day. I wasn't very active here, because I was actually occupied doing things! Oh, how I needed that. I needed a mental break from myself.

Yesterday, as you know, I was up at 4:30, the usual time. I sent Wife off for work and wrote my journal and did all the other little tidbits I do in the morning.

Around 8 or so, I went to the store to get bread for my friend and I. He just had Gastric Bypass surgery (and is doing good) so this was simply two little bread rolls, one for him, one for me.

He arrived at around 9:45, and stayed until 3 PM, when I went to get Wife from work.

We always have some great talks, and time just flies. I really like when he comes visit. He's the one that came to see me a couple of times in the hospital too. A super nice guy.

So, at 3 PM I went shopping with Wife. We ended up buying dinner from the local pizza place, and Wife and I decided to share a pizza. It was good, and again half a pizza - 750 cals give or take - was more than plenty for me.

Wife brought home a sampler plate of cakes she did for works. I had a little of it all, and it was great. Sadly, it really kicked the carb monster into gear. I gotta learn to just stay the hell out of it's way. Oh, well. I rough calculation at the time put me at around 1500 calories spent, so I still had plenty to spend should I want to. Probably not the best thing to spend them on, though.

Then, after dinner, we went to Daughter's school. Last night - and I totally forgot to mention this in my journal yesterday - was her graduation party from 10th grade.

In Denmark, 10th grade is more or less like finishing high-school, and moving on to college. This is what she'll do next year. She will still live at home, but she will have to commute much further to go to school. It's gonna be a huge year for her, and I am soooo proud of her.

Daughter is in an all Danish school, though there are quite a few immigrants, mostly from the middle-east. Denmark was very open to help refugees during the golf war back then.

Daughter got pretty damn good grades, especially considering that there still are some language barriers to conquer, and I am so impressed with what she has accomplished. Well done.

At the celebration, I took a picture or two of us, and especially one of Wife. This one:

EDIT: For some strange reason, I can't get the photo embedded.

Please click HERE to see it. You NEED to see it. :)

END OF EDIT.

She just couldn't stop looking at it. I posted it on facebook and she's gotten like a gazillion compliments.

I think she [i]finally
realized how much weight she lost, and how amazing and attractive she looks. Does she look anywhere near 43? I don't think so. I love her so much.

Now to put things in perspective, let me post a "before" picture of Wife and I, along with our "family picture" from last night. It's an amazing transformation, for both of us.

Before:

...and last night:

Isn't it just wild?!?

...

You know, I always had the view of myself as the fat kid. I would never get the girl. I would be in the band, but it would be the other guys who'd pick up the chicks. I wouldn't ever have the balls to go ask a girl out, or hit on them. Not back when was young, or really ever throught my life.

Not until I met Wife. I just knew that she was the one. She was hard to get, but I did what I could and her giving in FINALLY made me the luckiest guy in the world.

That photo of her yesterday changed something in her. I could feel it this morning. She stands several inches taller, I think, and she is SO proud. I'm SO happy that she finally sees what I (and everyone else) sees in her. How can a guy NOT be crazy with her? Her looks, combined with her ability to cook and bake, her creativeness, smarts, language skills, and downright twisted humor makes her the perfect woman for me.

...

So today is a big day. In about 100 minutes I will be headed for the bus, to meet Wife, and go to Roskilde Hospital to (hopefully) take the stitches out, and get the overall inspection.

It all looks neat and healthy, but some of the stitches are itching like crazy. It takes a lot of determination from me to NOT just tear into it. Don't worry, I won't...

I know it's the wound healing, and I have worries about it. But ooooooh, does it itch. Sometimes it feels like all 175 stitches are doing it at the same time. arrrrrgghhh! lol.

It'll be nice to take them out, and hopefully get permission to sit more normally, and hopefully play some music again, at least a little now and then.

Sitting here at home with too much time to think has given me some great ideas for some music, and I have stuff that I want/need to record one of these days. As soon as I can, please!

...

The weight? Oh, I am up today. 900 grams. I had a feeling this would happen. I totally slacked on my water intake yesterday, and I had too many goodies at the gathering last night. That's okay. It'll come off again. Not for tomorrow, though. Today is the day where I will take Wife out for a NICE thank-you-for-all-your-help-and-for-being-the-most-awesome-wife-in-the-world-dinner. I think we both need it - a mental break away from everything.

We are going to a very nice Rib House called "Bones" in Roskilde. It's a very "Americana" kind of place with everything being decorated with America memorabilia, and they hit the style perfectly. I will take some pictures, so you guys can see. It's a neat place, and the food (for once) truly reflects AND RIVALS an American Steak/Rib house. It's THAT good.

So I know my weight will be up tomorrow.

I will work on it afterwards.

...

Yesterday, I realized how swollen I still am. I still have a LOT of fluid in my body, and a LOT around my stomach. I normally fit a size 29 in jeans, and I was hoping to wear a nice outfit for last night. My "nice" pants are size 32, and I can comfortably wear them and they'll be loose around my waste, so I figured I'd wear them for last night. Well, think again. They were WAY too tight, and there was no chance of even closing them.

I tried everything I had, and NOTHING fit. I have gotten rid of most of my "Fat Keld" clothes, as it is no longer welcome in my house. I do not want any place to go back to.

So the result was that Wife and Daughter and everyone else attending yesterday were dressed sharp, and Kingkeld was in a nice black shirt and black sweat pants! LOL! Well, that's the best I could do, and some people were giving me a couple of disapproving looks, but you guys know me well enough to know that I couldn't care less. Besides, if they had bothered to ask, I think they'd see that I had the best reason in the world to not dress sharp. :)

Today, I am thankful for:
- Going to the hospital for the checkup. Go, stitches!
- An awesome day out with Wife.
- Wife seeing herself as I see her. FINALLY.
- You lot.

Happy Friday! Life is good!

Love, love, love that your dear wife can finally see her own beauty both inside and outside! Good luck at the hospital visit and your dinner at Bones. Sounds fun! Are you a transplanted American? The way you described the restaurant seems so...HCB

It warms my heart to see how much you cherish your wife. I think she is very lucky to have you, also. Thanks for the update and I hope you have a lovely date night and no worries on any weight gain. You said it yourself, this is the time to just concentrate on recouperating and recharging. Soon enough you will be back to work and back to what you have already proven works for you to stay healthy.

HCB, I lived in Houston, TX for 6-7 years, from 2000 to 2007. I know ALL about the blessings and curses of rib houses. :)

Your wife is a very lucky woman, I'd say - it works both ways. Not many of us have someone who shows so much appreciation so openly.

Wow... What a change. You are right, your DW looks nowhere near 43 - late 20's early thirties maybe. You BOTH look fantastic..... So great to go out and have a "thank you" meal.... You both deserve it. :-)
