The same thing happens to me and it can sometimes give me a reason to get completely off my diet. I'm older too (69) and also have arthritis. My cardiologist recommended a diet to me for my health (Dr Joel Fuhrman's The End of Diabetes). It's not just for diabetics but a eat to live plan. (lots of info on Pinterest) But about your yoyo weight, I read something lately that recommended to weigh everyday for 7 days and divide those totals by 7 as we do tend to yoyo on a day to day basis. I'm having a rough time doing a diet and I was blaming it on eating out but I really do better on those days. I am 5'8" and weigh 204 and want to get to 163 but your 180 would probably be more realistic for me! I just started on this site (fat secret) this month and people seem friendly and helpful. So good luck with your journey and I'll try to help in any way that I can. Good luck, Nan

I too am older, 78, and have arthritis. It keeps me from exercising. I need to get back to doing yoga. I keep track of my weight everyday because it keeps me in track better. I also keep track of my weekly loss because it is a better indicator. I have been trying to lose weight since l January. Did not have a good February. But I am now better able to control binge eating. And am losing some of my cravings for sweets. Something I never thought would happen. I will call out the diet of dr. Fuhrman. And I am so thankful for your support, nan, and the others in this board.

You may have food sensitivities like me.... its not a gain its a fluctuation towards something you ate...if your following plan then don't worry your just having some fluctuations;)
