mamamc7's Journal, 02 March 2018

Well I have been super busy still. Feeling good, feeling healthy. Even feeling a little sassy (in a good way)!!

Everyday I have been reminding myself to relax, breathe, unclench my jaw, relax and drop my shoulders, stretch my neck, reach for the sky and extend my spine... doing this almost every time I find myself alone in the bathroom mirror. And it’s actually improved my “self love”, the person I see in the mirror seems more like the old me... I know when I clench my jaw it makes my face seem puffier, when I tighten my shoulders and carry stress in them it makes my shoulders seem bulkier and my neck look wider, stretching for the ceiling and taking a few deep breaths is very relaxing. So now before I drive I roll my shoulders back, take a few deep breaths and try to relax. In the last few years driving has been raising my anxiety level, too many idiot drivers have come around and act like we are in Los Angeles or something... but in reality we are in a tiny little town: population 4,000

I know it sounds silly but I have been doing a few exercises to “fake” weight loss. I saw there was some head and jaw exercises to do to lessen a double chin... it actually works!! And then some shoulder and arms movements to help with the back, armpit and rib bulges... and they work!!! In combination with my dry brushing and lymphatic drainage massages, keto woe and being more active (around the house) I have noticed a difference, not so much my scale but in the way my clothes fit and look!! Or maybe I am just more accepting of myself and not as hard on myself as I was before I started this self love and “healthier me” journey...

Well it is FRIYAY, hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Hoping to finish the Harry Potter room up!! What do you guys have planned?!

I've been dry skin brushing too. Supposed to be good for the circulation as well as your skin. I'm planning on flying to Lanzarote on Sunday for a week - as long as the plane can take off. We're having quite a bit of snow this afternoon - more than I expected. It should start thawing out a bit tomorrow, hopefully. Have a lovely weekend Mamamc 🙂

@doobrie, yes, the circulation improving benefits are amazing!!! Have a fun and safe trip!!! We are getting rain here, lots of people evacuating again, hoping no mudslides happen again in the burn zones ☹️

Thanks for reminding me about the chin and jaw exercises for the double chin! LOL I used them the last time I lost it, but forgot this time! 💁🏻‍♀️And what does dry brushing involve ladies? Do I need a scrub brush? LOL 🙋🏻‍♀️

Oh, where did you find the exercises for the sides and underarm bulges mamamc? 🙋🏻

I found the exercises on Pinterest, but they were links to YouTube videos, so you could search there for double chin or face fat exercises. It involves like making kissy faces at the ceiling and turning your head and extending your jaw. The arm ones are basically extending your arms out to the side and moving your arms in little circles forward and backwards until your arms get kinda tired, flapping up and down and front to back and you can work to doing them with weights! And doing the arm/shoulder stretches using a door jam. Helps with posture. Too

The dry brush is usually a wooden paddle brush with natural bristles, kinda rough, but you use it dry, you should google it because there is a method to it, stimulates your lymph nodes and helps with circulation and natural detoxing.

Sondra - dry skin brushing is best done with a natural bristle brush (not a hairbrush - lol - the type you'd use in the bath). You brush your skin, starting at your feet, with long sweeping strokes, towards your heart. Take care over the delicate parts though! Then you shower. I only do my arms and legs as my skin feels quite delicate on my trunk. It hurts a bit when you first start doing it but your skin gets used to it after the first couple of times.

😁 I also like to use a light body oil like sweet almond oil or apricot oil with some rose oil after my dry brushing and shower, because if it can be a little abrasive and it’s important to promote healthy skin turn over after exfoliating. Dry brushing and then soaking in a nice very warm bath with Epson salt or magnesium flakes and baking soda helps too. I usually add a few drops of lemon oil and/or lavender.

Yes, I always use body lotion after my shower. The skin on my legs and feet is nice and soft now 🙂
