lenny's Journal, 29 January 2007

I am basically done. The scales again touched 165 over the weekend but I like to add a bit to take into account time of day etcetra. When I look back over the last ~3 months at the 14 or so pounds that I have lost I can only put it down to what I have been putting into my mouth, how often and how much. I did not increase my exercise at all, am doing about 2 walks a week of roughly half an hour so again I can only put it all down to a structured diet regimen that does not feel too restrictive and for me that's what Kevy's fat buster 101 is and did. Frankly I have not been this weight for probably 10 years and while it is only 14 or so pounds I gotta admit I feel fabulous, all my clothes are looser (I need to wear belts) and most importantly I have learnt alot about eating and restraining myself. Sure life would be better if you could just eat what you wanted and stayed slim but that's just not reality so watching what you eat and following a plan to a 90% extent is (for me) the best and only approach.

I now move into a care and maintenance approach whereby I am going to watch myself and record my weight on an ongoing basis and I just need to work out what and when I can reintroduce into the eating plan. For me, the occasional pasta dinner or cup of gelati (which I had on the weekend) should be ok to do. Again I just gotta keep on watching myself, which at the end of the day is just fine and is just a reality of a world in which food is literally in your face 24/7 (except when sleeping...).

So after 15 years of carrying those extra pounds they are (as I like to say) toast. But I cannot get ahead of myself and know that there will be mini-battles on the road ahead to keep it off so I will not get ahead of myself and express hubris. I am happy, that's it.

Thanks to everyone for their support. We are all in this together and I hope to be there for all those who need it.

Congratulations you have done great. It is a never ending battle but it is worth it. You just need to be aware of what you are eating. It will help that you are going to continue weighing yourself. Good luck to you!

Great job, Lenny. You should be proud of your accomplishment, especially so considering you did it over the holidays. Good luck in keeping it off; it sounds like you have the right frame of mind. Again, great work!
