mamamc7's Journal, 18 October 2017

I started doing a 20/4 fast once a week, and to get me through the last few hours (because I eat when bored) I have found that a nice foot soak using magnesium oil, magnesium flakes in water, with grapefruit and peppermint essential oils really helps. Essential oils have been proven to help detox, curb appetite and improve circulation. So I sip my sole water or cucumber infused water and soak my feet and pretend my kids aren't screaming at each other outside the bathroom door. 😜 because as a stay at home mom, part of my weight gain has been losing my identity as my own self... and neglecting my own body to provide these children with the best life I can, but if I am depressed because of weight I can't really provide them the best anymore, can I?... so it is time to reclaim some me time and self love!!

Does anyone else use any type of essential oils or crystals and intentions to help their weight loss, health finding journey?!

Yes! I am a massage therapist and use oils, stones, and energy medicine to support my body and health. I also receive regular massage and acupuncture. It helps enormously. After a few hard years I am finally here on FS and making me a priority. Good luck!

@smorgen that's awesome! It's never too late to start making yourself a priority! I just wish I had a little sooner!! I just got a jade stone face roller and a black tourmaline body roller 😉 I already noticed firmer skin using the body roller a few times! My Boyfriend and I give each other massages... I am trying to teach my the lymphatic drainage techniques so I don't have to do them on myself. I think it all helps, especially since stress causes weight gain for me (and most others) and massage, stones and oils relieve it!!

You sound a lot like me! I have 3 kiddos at home that I love more than anything, but that's kinda the problem, lol, love them even more than myself! So much so, that while I have been busy nurturing them, I've forgotten me. So taking time out for myself is now something I'm set it out to do. These essential oils sound therapeutic and girl Lord knows I need me some therapy after a long day with these lil monkeys. I am going to jump on Amazon and order myself some! Thank you so much for your post!!!

@dollfacechills I think it is more common than we think. We put our kids first to a severe degree and we lose ourselves. But our kids need us healthy and happy. I have had two date nights in 4.5 years and one night out with a friend. Besides that I am a totally committed mama on the brink of insanity due to it!! But before kids I was a hot lil lady and now I have let myself go so much that I have become unsocial... which is absurd and just society's view of beauty that I need to let go. But also it feels good to love the person in the mirror... so some self love and healthy living can't hurt!

@dollface also, if you have any questions about oils let me know. But googling some for weight loss or sleep is a good start. Peppermint, grapefruit, lemon, lavender and chamomile are great starters. I have been using them for several years. I use them on my kids for sleep, but again always forget myself... I buy pure oils and then mix them into a carrier oil, usually sweet Almond or apricot oil. Stopping by a place like Whole Foods is usually worth it if you don't have a local hippied out healthy food/living store.

Essential oils are wonderful for those of us that prefer natural remedies for everyday use. Sandlewood oil blended with Lemongrass oil is my go-to for de-stressing, especially after a shower in the pm. A co-worker recommended soaking your feet in Epsom salt water and then coating them in Vics vapor rub to help with head colds. Seriously, throw on a pair of socks and sleep with it on? It really helps!

@phoenix84 you can make your own Vic's. camphor, coconut oil, Castor oil, peppermint, eucalyptus and I add rosemary or thyme because it helps with fevers. I haven't used medicines in over four years. Just use natural remedies, homeopathy and oils. My BF calls me a hippie witch because I am always "brewing" up a new concoction of oils or herbs 😉 it's fun and we have been healthy for years, minus my daughters PTSD. But even oils cured her vivid nightmares!!! And helped her kidneys (she has one, so we use juniper berry in her lotion to promote healthy kidneys)

PSA: please don't wear essential oils into spaces where they'll cause migraines, nausea, etc. in people who are allergic to them. Also perhaps not use them around cats, as essential oils cause cumulative damage to feline olfactory organs. --- Mineral baths sound sumptuous!

@t8u9 I only wear my rose oil and natural deodorants in public. But trust me it's not obnoxious and nasty like people doused in perfume or cologne, that gives me migraines and nausea, I avoid going into certain places like the bank because it is small and every one is slathered in it!! So I am mindful of others, and only use a dab. Luckily I live in a pretty hippy community where almost everyone uses EO's and natural products instead of artificial fragrances

Me, me, me! I do! 😍 My crystals for weight loss are apatite, tourmaline, & seraphinite. For digestion are citrine, labradorite, & moss agate. For metabolism are sodalite & amazonite with the labradorite working here as well. For cholesterol I have aventurine & fluorite. For diabetes I use bloodstone & the citrine helps here as well. I do energy work & am a Reiki Master. I find that I do much better with over all health & weight loss when I have been giving myself treatments. But when life gets too busy & overwhelming or if depression/anxiety/PTSD flare up... I just don't do it. I love EO's and use them often as well as herbal medicine. I have doTERRA slim & sassy but am not in love with it. I prefer blending my own grapefruit, lemon, cinnamon, ginger, peppermint & lavender. I also like sipping on teas & tisanes. Yogi makes a "slimming" green tea with blueberry that I like. And Numi makes a savory fennel which I really like with garlic. I add cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, garlic, lemon & cayenne to drinks & food whenever I can. I also work on improving gut health with fermented /cultured food. I make my own raw sauer kraut, kim chi, kombucha, kefir, lacto-fermented veggies... Have you tried dry brushing & hot/cold hydro-therapy for better lymph flow? It's pretty amazing! I have also been called a hippie witch ⭐

I actually have a bit of a crystal addiction! Lol!
19 Oct 17 by member: OrbityGoZoom
@orbityGoZoom you sound like my twin flame! I do have an extensive crystal collection that is always growing and adapting. And I use the moon phases to guide my eating habits and cycles. Also use those crystals! I tread lightly at first when discussing my crystal "rituals" because some people confuse observing mother's natures energies with witch craft and evil... but glad to know more like minded people are here!! 💫

@orbity we also ferment and make kombucha. My girls, 4 and 9, are obsessed, we have about four gallons on continuous tap at all times 🤦‍♀️

Good job on your weight loss success 🤗👍I've been reading that healthy whole food eating low carb no sugar can also help with depression anxiety other brain health.. I'm getting ready to read The Ultramind solution by md Mark Hyman ....my daughter suffers from depression and anxiety so I'm trying to find a way to help her Mark Hyman also has Instagram 🤗

@buffy I'll look into that. My daughter is already on a strict diet for her kidneys, and no sugar, but can't go low carb. But I'll see if I can tweak her diet more. I swear by essential oils, specifically luxamare brand and bach's flower remedy for her anxiety, and avoiding triggers for her. Mostly movies where the dad dies.
