Earthlady's Journal, 25 April 2012

The difference between walking everywhere and 'going out for a walk' - power-walking - is staggering and even though I don't possess a car and I've walked all my life, I can feel the additional effort of the past few days in my legs and see it on the scales.

I found a pedometer app for my phone and although it's not great it does keep tabs on the number of steps - well over 10,000 yesterday although I wasn't at work so that's not typical.

I'll be sitting a lot today as I'm conducting speaking exams - in my normal teaching day I'm always on my feet.

Started physiotherapy for my shoulder yesterday and already the range of movement has improved so I hope I'll be back into my full yoga routine in a few more days.

Beautiful weather today, a drop on the scales, kitty feeling playful and almost back to her normal self, and a weekend trip to the big city with my beautiful daughters to look forward to - it's a wonderful life!

That's the intensity level. Many people don't push themselves when they exercise. You see people slogging along on the treadmill. But when you up the resistance and really push and get your heart rate up, you burn way more fat and calories. I hate it, but I lose so much better when I exercise hard. Great job!

Amen! Great job, Earthlady! Pedometer app, eh? I'll have to check into that! ;) Your overall trend for the last several days is definitely downward...so your new plan is working! Glad to hear your shoulder is improving so rapidly...I still have my thera-band from last summer...maybe I should pick that thing up and join you! Also happy for you about your kitty cat...It IS a wonderful life...when you see folks around you who are truly suffering, it makes you feel doubly blessed to only be struggling with losing a few pounds, doesn't it?
