Sarah1950's Journal, 25 September 2017

I'm disappointed. So I will try increasing my fat intake to see if it will adjust my carb ratio.
My pool will be closed up for the winter today. Boohoo. Summer is officially over in New England.
Have a great week FS Buddies.

I know it's hard when you hit a rough patch like you're in now. Here is what I do when it gets really hard: I go to the grocery store and go to the dairy department and find the display of packages of butter. I stand in front of that butter and count packages up to the amount of weight I have lost so far. I know it sounds crazy, but when I see all that fat in front of me, it really makes me feel a sense of accomplishment and inspires me to hang in there and keep going. Maybe this will work for you.

I like that. My dietitian had me hold a 5 lb thing of fake fat. She asked if I wanted to gain it back. I had lost 5 lbs since I saw her. I was like nope nope nope.

@Sarah1950 - usually I make sure my fat is twice my protein... that way I don't lose what muscle mass I do have, and can burn the fat stores more efficiently.

Maybe no loss, but no gain either. So, not so bad! 😊 As far as not enough fat...I've been known to eat butter just to get my macros up 😬😜.

Time to make some fat bombs! My favorites are coconut oil, butter, unsweetened cocoa powder, Truvia, and PB2 peanut butter powder. Like a Reese's peanut butter cup, and gets your fats up.

Don't get discouraged; you'll get through this plateau.

When LC first started as Atkins, Dr. Robert Atkins, encouraged fats as part of his diet. He felt you would feel full longer and it helped with dropping weight. When fat became national enemy #1, emphasis on that piece of LC declined. Now, with the research on how consuming fats helps change how we burn fat, it is shown to help with the weight loss and ketosis. I peeked at your diet and you've been amazing with the carbs, but the fat is a little low. You might want to try bringing that percentage up and see what happens. I haven't worded this very well, but don't be afraid to try different things to see what works for you.

Dear Buddies, thanks for your feedback. All comments are welcome. For the past two weeks I could tell that I wasn't losing any weight. I was mostly concerned with detoxing from sugar and less about losing weight. So, I added a tablespoon of butter to my dinner last night and almost immediately felt better. My husband is the cook for us. He admitted that he had started using the PAM spray again instead of the coconut oil to cook my eggs at breakfast and for my fish. He thought it would help me. I really wasn't getting any added fat. I use a "light" salad dressing too. Let's see what happens this week. Lastly Kes, as much as the fat bombs are calling to me, SADLY one would lead me to the Halo Top ice cream...onto "3 honey dipped doughnuts please."

Stay away from those donuts! (or doughnuts). You can use light salad dressing but keep it healthier by making it yourself: Get yourself one of those Good Seasons cruets. Fill with lemon juice to the vinegar line, the fill with cider vinegar to the water line. Add 4 tbsp's of water. Now add 1/2 tsp seasoned salt and a heaping 1/4 tsp of dry tarragon. Shake well. Now fill to the oil line with your chosen oil -- I use sunflower. You end up with a "lighter" dressing but with a good amount of healthy fat, and without all the thickeners and other additives in bottled diet dressing.
