Keeping busy is a good way for me to keep my mind off food.

I went through the various activities listed in FS's "exercises." Even if you don't *think* that you "exercise," you might be surprised to find things you like to do (like hobbies) or chores you do every day out of necessity, in those lists. Best of all, the "calories consumed" use your current weight in the calculations.

"Reading" is among them and consumes a few more calories than just "resting"! Yippee! I also learned that I can "claim" vacuuming and pulling a few weeds. (Weed-pulling" is covered under "yard work.")

I am very heat-intolerant and have poor balance, and my feet don't tolerate much walking, so I don't spend a lot of time outside in the upstate Carolina summer sun. However, there are *always* weeds to pull. I get out there for 10-15 minutes a day.

I encourage everyone to track their daily food consumption, activities, and weight. Doing so daily has provided a good idea of the natural patterns of my body as well as progress in getting healthier.

I was surprised to see how many calories showed up for housework. I don't do a lot of housework other than laundry and dishes and cleaning litter boxes. But I have company coming and have been doing more than normal. I have a nice lady that comes and cleans for me every two weeks. Usually when she's here I take off for the day but yesterday I stayed and helped her and the two of us got a lot done. Wonder how many calories SHE burns off since she does this 5 or 6 days a week.
