Very happy to report another drop. I recently started back at the gym too. It feels great to be back. Taking it easy with the process since I may be out of shape. Jerky is my absolute favorite snack. It has so much protein, keeps me full between meals or sometimes it is my meal. :) It depends on the day, I guess. I am eating other things though (ha ha). I recommend jerky to everybody BIG TIME though because my body isn't used to a restriction in calories. Every time I decide to watch what I eat, I start to feel hungry (ha ha). That's where the jerky comes in....I never really had a certain food/foods that filled me up during that time of deprivation (I'll call it). Jerky is tried and true - always works for me! :) Hoping that I can get my numbers down for my next doctor's visit. (I know that jerky has a lot of sodium in it but it really helps my appetite). My doctor recently prescribed blood pressure medicine to me and mentioned that I was pre-diabetic as well. I know that both run in my family and it makes me fearful. I guess the only thing that I can do now is think positively and kick ass. ;) Have a wonderful day, everybody!

I agree jerky is my absolute favorite too. I love it. I have it in between my Herbalife shakes as a snack and before dinner sometimes.

Shelley, beef jerky is the not a good idea 😩with high blood pressure. It's processed with high amounts of salt. You need to be drinking tons of water. Like 3 liters a day. Yes, gasp 12-8 oz. glasses. You have to get that salt out of your system in order for your blood pressure to remain stable. The protein is actually good from a diabetic standpoint because it's protein. But check if you're eating the teriyaki or barbecue kind? Look for carbs because the flavoring might have sugar in it. Not a know it all. My knowledge comes from nursing, just so you know. I congratulate you on your return to the gym and all things are NOT negative. You are really doing a great thing for your health. If you lose as little as 20 lbs. you may get your A1C down. That's the value they check for diabetes. And the weight loss will also effect your blood pressure. Best of luck. You are dealing some family history but you know you can work hard 😓 to stay ahead of things.

I am amazed at at how just a "few" pounds lowered my blood pressure, blood sugar, pulse etc. yes I have another 60 pounds to go but I wish I knew before what a big difference a small drop in weight made. Everybody is different but good luck.

Thanks for the information! I am always looking for information! Maybe I can eat jerky but sparingly. I know that I have to get my sodium down. :) I am also drinking a lot of water so that isn't an issue. I just feel like jerky fills me up when I am desperate to shove anything in my mouth at the moment. I know that sounds horrible but really is the truth. I can cut back on the jerky though and perhaps make better choices :) So difficult to find food items that don't have salt in them that satisfy!
