Emerald17's Journal, 24 July 2017

I always screw myself over on the weekends. But actually, I was already feeling down. On Friday, I weighed in and found that I was 5lbs. heavier than the day before! WTH! I guess I got discouraged and just gave in this weekend. I figured, wth....I worked out hard last week, and I've got nothing to show for it. How the hell did I gain 5lb over night? Could two bowls of "fake pho" really do that? It's mostly soup! And I loaded it with napa cabbage and spinach. There were only a few pieces of thin cut beef in there. Maybe the broth seasoning was too salty? I don't know.... Either way, it's got me feeling down and discouraged. It's raining today, so can't take kids to the playground. Just going to have to try and push myself to workout in the house. But if Walk/Jogging in the morning and video workouts after lunch couldn't do anything for me last week, I doubt 25 minutes of video workout is going to do anything for me today. :( Yes, I'm having a pity party. No, I'm not inviting anyone. :(

I think it may have been the sodium content making you retain water. Preservatives make me blow up like a balloon! Drink lot's of water to flush your system maybe? Don't get down, we all have those wtf days. Love & Hugs!

I see my weight flexuate everyday by at least 5lbs... I just dont sweat this small stuff... I have to just stay consistant if one cant get out work out at home, changing things up is important. To stay in the same routine will causes me to get board and not expand my desires to keep motived. Challenge has been an exceptional way to disapline myself also. I ate only once yesterday drinking water and such only. At the end of the day I could eat one meal. I did it! And I felt good about me and how my body felt as well. I also was up to 127 last week and now I am bk down to 124 this morning. Regarless of what the scale says, I work out! It changes everything not just your body size. your kids will benifit the most as you will want to particapate in activities instead of eating...keep it moving and dont think that what you did for a workout is not benifiting you...every thing you do is different from what you did before and that is what is going to aid you the most in the long run... Time give yourself that...We all have WTF days! And days we dont feel well.

Thank you. It's just that it's already discouraging when you don't see a good change fast enough; but when you see a bad change, it just makes it worse. :( I will keep your suggestions/advice in mind okhmhaka. Tikohl, I think you're right. Even though it was "soup" of sorts, the preservatives I added to make the broth definitely didn't help. And I know I definitely didn't drink as much water that day too. The next morning, not only did I find I gained 5lb, but my eyes were super swollen and puffy...and so was my face. I guess that's what water retention (too much sodium) looks like on me. :( Now I know....

some times when I work out really hard, I have a gain the next day. muscle weighs more than fat. I know I know we all get tired of hearing that. But 5 lbs all at once sounds like water retention. Hang in there baby, it will go away.

Your good change is your that you BEGAN SOMETHING NEW. Thats huge! mantaining it is the issue, not starting and stopping. keep doing it no matter what, one of the things you didnt mention is that muscle is heavier than fat...you may have built mucle 2. 3600 cal. is equal to one lb of fat. If you look at that, see what your calorie intake is to loose one lb no one can obtain this even in one week. You would have to stop eating or work out 12 hours a day for that... most workouts only burn 300 to 400 calories and if your new at this your body is not optimal enough to do that type of workout yet.. your problem might be mental and emotional not eating... who is it your looking to be like? what are your movtives for this loss? better health or to fit in for someone else? thise will decide your motive factors to motivate you in the directions you will go. I like to look well but i like to feel better first before I think about fitting in or looking like ms popular on TV, infact I dont have a TV... 3. if you build muscle your muscles do the fat burning for you, its why its always recomended. Stop with so much anylizing this stuff and stick with a basic regiment for the next mth or so... You have not enough information on health and fitness either to just expect yourself to jump into this and think, I will look like her after a few mths. You will alwys look just like you, period. it takes time to change a life style. Just start over, your weight will go up and down but down it will continue to go if you keep on a basic routine of eating and working out.

Try not weighing every day. Once a week gives you a good picture of what's happening in your body. It's not as discouraging either. You do have natural ups and downs.

Yes there are ups and downs according to what we ate the day before. So when you weight in the morning it could be a fluctuation of water retention, bowels not moving regularly, to much sodium in something you ate etc. Remember to continue and not give up because your clothes are fitting better and loose because you are loosing inches as well as weight. Keep up the good work.
