Happy Summer Everyone!

Mid day weigh in. Tomorrow 1st thing in the morning will be a slightly better number I'm sure... Getting back on track again just in time for my 41st Birthday coming up in 2 days!

My most recent a1c was 8.4. Much better than 11.3 when I got the type 2 diagnosis last September! I am currently off Metformin & just controlling with diet & exercise. My sugars had started dropping under 70. Interestingly, the sugars getting low happened after getting some bad teeth extracted. Turns out that the infections in my mouth were a huge contributor to my high blood sugars. I'm pretty much 140 or lower now without the Metformin so that's exciting!

I moved to the organic homestead farm & that was not a good fit. I was really looking for a sense of community and didn't find it.

Now I've got my RV up at my brother's. He & my sister in-law needed childcare help with my 3 nieces as he works full time & they run a kettle corn business. Summer is their busy season & the kiddos are out of school. It was perfect timing!

Pretty active with the kids. Going on walks, to the play ground, playing 4 square, having dance contests & teaching them yoga. My 4 year old niece calls yoga "Yoda" & has a rainbow tutu she always wears when we do it she calls her "Yoda skirt"! Sooo freakin' cute! I even jogged today while taking the dog & 18 month out while their mom & sisters rode their bikes!

The only downside is that they keep the house stocked with tons of high carb/processed food/junk food and, of course, there's always lots of bags of kettle corn after their events. So I just really need to be better about having my own food on hand & prepped. I don't want to fall in to the habit of taking them up on the offer of food out of convenience. All the weight I've gained has happened in the 3 weeks since I moved here!

All in all I'm feeling pretty healthy & happy. Very excited to get back on track!

Wow, where do I begin?! Congratulations on your upcoming birthday! :D It's incredible how many seemingly unrelated things can cause higher blood sugars. Keep at it, type 2 diabetes is definitely curable! So happy for your better a1c! I wonder if a sense of community is becoming a lot less common? For example, I don't even know our neighbors last names (maybe I should ask Mom or Dad if they know just out of curiosity?)! But hey, even though that didn't work out as you'd hoped, you get to be closer to family now, which is pretty great in itself! ^^ I'm gonna have to try making kettle corn soon. I've been meaning to, but haven't quite gotten to it since all the fruit trees and bushes here have been keeping my baking abilities busy! Tastes great, but it's all so high carb... Not fair. :P I feel so much better when I stay more active instead of sitting/standing/lying around inside all day. Even just a half hour to an hour or so walking makes a major difference! Aaaah, so cute, my littlest brother calls it "Yoda", too! And the fact that your niece has decided to have her own specific skirt for it is just plain adorable! Yeah, lots of high carb food around to make things a little trickier. It can take a little some days to get yourself to make something you know will be better for you when the alternative option is so much simpler! *sigh* Oh well. We're big girls, right? We can do it. ;) A treat to hear all you had to say, Orbity! Thank you for sharing so much! Hope you stay happy and healthy, and that the two of those don't change but for the better! ;D

Thank you for the birthday wishes! I knew the extractions would have some impact on my sugars but I did realize just how much or how quickly! I am so extremely happy with outcome! My last a1c was done before the extractions. I am excited to see how much more its improved when I go in for the next test! The sense of community thing is big for me. I used to volunteer a lot and really felt engaged with people through that. But I started working too much & didn't have time for a while. Now that I'm all moved and settling in I would really like to get involved with something locally! Their kettle corn is amazing! My favorite is their salted caramel. The key is moderation... which is difficult with such yummy temptation! I love to bake! I've been looking more in to lower carb baking using things like almond meal. I make an apple crisp with it that's divine! Me too with staying active! I feel so much better. As soon as I start lazing around too much the aches & pains start kicking in. Which makes me want to be even more sedentary. Which is exactly the wrong thing to do! Too funny your brother calls it Yoda too! Love it! So glad to chat with you! No worries on length... I obviously get pretty lengthy myself! lol!
