kingkeld's Journal, 28 January 2012

Ahhh, it's weekend, I'm back with a new low, wife's back is a little better, rocked and rolled HARD yesterday, and guests over for dinner tonight. Honestly, does it get any better? :)

I weighed in at 77.2 kgs this morning. I's a tiny loss since last week - 100 grams - but it's a new low nonetheless. I'm perfectly happy with it, now being in maintenance mode and also considering how my choice of pizza really did a number on me. It'll be quite a while before I do that again, that's for sure.

I'd like to say thank you for all your get-well greetings to Wife, and for all your advice. It was a stressful day yesterday, so I was not on here much, but rest assured that it's all be duly noticed and greatly appreciated.

I talked with Wife a little more about you guys, and about the community there is to be found here. She really appreciate you guys, and all you have done for me (and thus, also for her). She asks me to tell you that those of you who has asked to be her buddy will get the requests accepted very soon. Again, she is not very active on here, but she does have the intention to be here a little more - and maybe even journal. We'll see what happens. I just don't want you guys to expect that she's gonna do lengthy daily journals. She'll probably NOT write about weight loss, but about other things that is on her mind. She's a great writer though, I hope she'll do it. I'd love to see what she would write. She's a great gal.

So, yesterday night I was in rehearsal with the band. We got a couple of new songs in place, and had a blast. I really like playing with these guys. I had my calories totally under control and this gave me plenty of wiggle room for the impromptu chocolate cake that was served in our break.

Today, our Brazilian friend is coming to visit along with her kids. It's been quite a while since we've seen them - actually not since Thanksgiving 2010. I'm curious to see how she'll react to "the new me". I've walked right past her a few times, and I honestly don't think she realized who I was. I'd always say hi, but not really stop to chat, and she'd give me this weird look. Maybe she thought I was some kind of creep? LOL.

I got my Xbox kinect games yesterday. One is the Yourshape Fitness Evolved 2012, which is (duh) a fitness game. It should essentially be a lot of exercises to do to get in shape, train muscles, workout, do yoga, and a bunch of other things. I am curious to get going and find things to do in this. It looks like fun, and the geek level is just perfect for me. I like stuff like this. I also have a few other games, and I think it would probably be fun for the kids tonight. I hope I can find something that will be fun for them, without us being there - I think I'd like to simply enjoy an evening of talking with our friend. :)

Kitty cat is not gonna be happy though. She is in NO way child compatible, so she'll have to be in the other end of the apartment tonight. She hates that.

Today, it's INDULGENCE DAY! I'm not sure how much I'll be eating for lunch, as we had a heavy, excellent (and reasonably low cal) breakfast. Normally, we go to this little lunch buffet at a local supermarket. It's dirt cheap, and small, but usually pretty good. However, both Wife and I are pretty much stuffed after breakfast. No need to eat just to eat, right? I'd rather save the calories for some heavy duty snacking throughout the day then. :)

Oh, and of course - let's not forget a little update on Wife's back. The other day we finally found out what happened to her back. She has a (reasonably) mild herniated disc in her lower back. This means that it doesn't require surgery, but then again it doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt! Those can be sooooo painful. I've had one, and she has all my compassion on this. I have contacted her doctor and she has an appointment with a physiotherapist this coming week, so we can get going on getting her better. Until then, she's doing doctor recommended stretching, very carefully, and that relieves some of the pain. And of course, also some pain killers. Sadly, Denmark in general don't believe in heavy pain killers. There is no Vicodin to be had here, just milder stuff. It relieves, but it doesn't kill the pain. I wish I could get her something stronger.

Today, I'm thankful for
- Wife being significantly better than yesterday.
- A great morning omelet.
- A new low!
- The outlook of a great day with friends and family.
- Messing with new video games!
- Coffee! Salute to all!
- Wife's decision to use this forum a little more. I really hope she does it. :)
- All of you guys who are being so awesome, helpful and concerned for Wife and I. I love you guys! You're the best.

Bring it on, Saturday! I'm ready! Life is good!

Keld, can't wait to hear the reaction of your Brazilian friends, especially if they don't know of your transformation. You may have some strong support behind them to absorb the shock. I showed your before and after picture yesterday to a friend. You and I have lost about the same amount of weight, I think (that kg to lb thing gets me all the time), and I don't look as different as you. Congrats on the new low. Sorry to hear about your wife's herniated disc, especially without pain killers. You had one too.v will it go away on its own? Wish her well for me.

Ouch! A herniated disk- Hope the physiotherapist can help her feel better soon. Congrats on the new low. :) Hope you get a wonderful positive reaction out of your friends tonight. Enjoy the day!

The hernie IS very painful, but today she is much better. It's not severe enough that surgery is at all on the table, it has to be moved back in place as much as possible, and she needs strength training around it for the muscles to better support it. It's something that mostly goes away (almost). I virtually never feel mine, but of course I have now lost all the weight and I am used to watch out for the "dangerous" moves.

Helewis - for you to compare, I have lost around 170 lbs. Are you around the same weight loss? It's very impressive. I salute you.

Funfact of the day, I ate bricks yesterday (apparently, thats what the scales are telling me) and you are 200 grams lighter than me as of this morning! As as of thomorrow morning I intend to be at least a kg lighter than you, and I intend to stay below you. ;) Oh and if you dont want to gain a ton of weight overnight dont eat bricks! No I have no clue what I ate that resulted in he massive gain, but probably the ready made dinner had more salt than what we usually have

I've been MIA due to work so I'm just hearing about wifey. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope so recovers quickly. I have no idea what that feels like but I can only imagine how painful that is. Ouch!! I'll have to find her on FS and put in a buddy request to wish her well on her journal. Glad to hear your at another low! That is incredible. You have done it!!! That is a Happy Dance all weekend! I can't believe you aren't jumping off the walls! That is amazing. Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for accepting my buddy request. I enjoy reading your journals. And I second that gratefulness for coffee. We received a Kuerig maker for our wedding last year and use it faithfully. My current favorite is the Dark Magic, which is a good stronger coffee when you need an extra jolt. Put some heavy cream in there and sweetener. Heavenly. Good luck on your dinner party tonight, and hope your wife feels better soon!

Hi Keld, i haven't had time to read your journals over the last few weeks so my apologies for not popping in much. Whilst i appreciate you would love your wife to enjoy Fs, i admire the fact she is sticking to her guns until she is ready IF she ever will be. We are not all the same and it seems to me your wife is happy to let you put your weight loss in the limelight , i.e. Fat Secret, but maybe she likes to be a participting spectator, if that is possible. Also aren't you a hard act to follow and maybe now it is too late for your wife to be recognised for herself? i certainly wouldn't like to join FS in your shadow. You are such a dedicated and strong member where you care about your buddies so much and want to help, support and encourage them on their journey. And you are well respected and recognised on this site. I feel your wife might be overwhelmed by peoples interest because of you. I will confess, when your wife popped into the dite to day hello to you once, there was NO way i was not going to check her out. delighted to have checked her out but decided to resist requesting her as a buddy for the same reasons i mentioned earlier. I may have this all wrong, it will be interesting what you think about my comment. Absolutely fantastic you have reached the magic number 77. something kg, when literally a few weeks ago you were anxious it would not happen. Sazy x
