smcred's Journal, 15 February 2017

Went to the doctor yesterday: I weigh 325, and my A1C is 7.00. Time to get serious. I've marked the end of March on my calendar as my target date for being in total ketosis. That’s about six weeks from now. Until then, I’m focusing on ketogenic living: intermittent fasting, eating 80-90% fat, drinking lots of water. Starting today I’m going to walk on my breaks, only about ten minutes, but it’s better than nothing. I’ll continue with the coconut oil/cream coffee in the mornings. I might change from coconut oil to MCT oil, but I need to do more research. I’m writing down everything I eat and drink. I don’t plan to eat any low-carb products, but if I eat anything suspect, I’m going to test my blood sugar before and after to see the effect. I’m not even going to chew gum.

I can do anything for six weeks!

2 HOURS LATER . . .

Not so glib now. i want to eat! Yesterday i decided i would fast from solid food until dinner tonight, and now I'm tempted by sardines of all things. Sardines?! Only because they are what i have available in my desk drawer! I'm having bouillon, which helps.I may have one more cup of BP coffee. I can hold out until i get home, and then I'll have a good dinner!

7:00 pm
I made it through the afternoon and feel nice and full now! It was delicious! I did not fast until dinner, but I'm okay with my day.
