Up at 6:00 A.M. this Sunday morning to do my long run, 5.3 miles with 6 hills, each with a duration of 5 minutes at an incline of 3%. Why do I tell you that? Because, that's ridiculous; it's the longest run I've done since I started up again, and it has to have hills in it. But, what amazes me is that I am able to do it. How does she know it? How does Jillian Michaels know that I am able to complete something that, just a week ago, I wouldn't have been able to do? To quote a famous philosopher, "I did not have sex with that woman." How does she know enough about me to know that I am barely able to complete these workouts, but I can. Surprisingly, I am just able to complete them, but I do complete them. Talk about mental gymnastics! After hill one, I am thinking, "I can do this." After hill two, I'm thinking, "Maybe not." Then it's, "I'm half-way there, another hill and I'll be on the return leg, but I'm already tired." Another hill, and it's, "I'm not quitting now; I've got too much invested in this workout; if I quit now, I'm going to have to do it all over again. Not a chance!" And it's finished. And I think, "That's amazing, when I started, I couldn't go a minute without crying out for Mama!" Now I'm running continuously for over an hour, and it ain't over yet. Folks, I'm not bragging. I feel very blessed to have this second chance at life, at my age. I thank God for my health and for all my friends here on FS; I am enjoying this journey immensely. Well, off to church in an hour; got to get ready.
