kingkeld's Journal, 20 January 2012

Well, I'll be damned. Again? I don't think you could pry the cocky smile off my face even if you used a sledgehammer! I lost a whopping full kilo again since yesterday! How low can you go? Well, watch me! LOL!

This is kind of how I feel this morning:
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/7YmXdeRXqv8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So, today I reached 78.7 kgs. I have 1.7 kgs left to reach my final goal weight. That's about 3½ lbs. These days I feel like I could do this by Sunday, but of course that's not gonna happen. However, this is an AMAZING motivator to finish this thing, and finish it STRONG!

I find it SO strange that I can just keep shedding weight right now. Nothing happened for 4 weeks or so, just little baby steps, and then BAM!

Same thing happened to me back in August. I stalled completely, then I changed to my modified Indulgence Diet and I lost 7 kgs in one week. It's strange how our bodies can react.

I still think that making the decision again has seriously affected the results. I think they did in August too. I think back then I was ready for something slightly different. I was doing right, but I think I was just winging it. I stalled because I got too comfortable doing what I always do, and my body needed a shake-up. I gave it Indulgence Day, and results came in immediately.

Same thing this time. I made a new decision, and results are showing. What else am I doing differently? Well, surprisingly, I have been exercising LESS! This week has not been good exercise wise. No gym, and today will probably reflect the rest of the week. It's a Friday with no meetings, no band practice or any other commitments other than work. I'm leaving work at 12:00 or so to go have lunch with Wife, and I have no plans of coming back. Oh, how I love flexible work hours. I'll just go in a little early, or take a little of my saved up hours to compensate. :)

So today is Wife Day. I just want to hang, and enjoy. No crazy foods until tomorrow though. Today's food is all planned. Lighter breakfast than usual, and eating it later, to not have as many calories in from the get-go, and to not get hungry mid morning. I plan on eating around 7 am (it's 6 am now), and normally I eat around 5 am. This should help me.

Then, we're going to eat lunch at the local pizza place. They do a simple, but awesome chicken salad, which basically is a garden salad with a little chicken. Tasty, cheap, healthy. I love it.

Dinner tonight will have special guest chef kingkeld! I'm doing a vegetarian "Chili con carne", with a mushroom-thingamajingy as meat substitute. We actually bought it by mistake, thinking it was pre-cooked ground beef, and I was gonna use it for lunch one time, but never got around to it. I've tried it, and it's really good. No fat, high in protein AND tasty. It'll be perfect in my dinner tonight.

So all-in-all it will be good choices, and there will be plenty of wiggle room for a Friday night treat or what ever I like. Maybe a glass of wine with dinner? We'll see.

Several of my buddies have been asking about my language. Some are a little puzzled with my English, as I keep talking about Denmark and being Danish. I'd like to open the lid a little on the person behind kingkeld and let you know a little more about me.

Yes, I am Danish, born and raised. I had my first English lessons in 2nd grade, and have been taught English through all my school years. Denmark is big on learning this, as we are a tiny country which needs a way to communicate outwards.

Doing my professional life I have worked "in English" on many occasions, doing local radio work, interviewing musicians from all over the world, but also being a technical drafter, working in engineering. All this work is usually in English, and as consultants on these projects are from all over the world, all communication in the work place will typically be in English.

Then, of course, there is Wife. I met Wife in the US. I have lived there for 6 years, from 2001 through 2007. This made me switch from mostly using British English to American English. I lived in Houston, TX, so that's why y'all are gonna come across some Southern dialect now and then.

I am 100% fluent in both Danish and English, and as you can tell I have the written language down pretty well too. I still think and dream in English as much as I do in Danish.

The last four years we have lived in Denmark. I work in a Danish public office, and all communication is in Danish. The English that I do is on the home front and an occasional client who doesn't speak Danish. Sometimes it's enough that I switch to English instead of hiring an interpreter. So, since I am not working as much in English any longer, I thoroughly enjoy all the communication here, writing in English, thinking in English and I am so comfortable doing this.

I hope this clarifies a little for some of you. :) Thanks for asking, and thanks for being curious about me.

Today I am thankful for:
- FRIDAY FRIDAY FRIDAY!
- Another MASSIVE weight loss. Should I be greedy and hope for a new low tomorrow? It IS Saturday, after all. :)
- A weekend with no significant plans.

As many other mornings, a music DVD is playing. I love watching concerts in the morning while I write my journal.

Today, it's the 25th Anniversary concerts of Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. There is SO much good music on these disks.

I wanted to show you a sample - I love the way these old geezers can get on stage and show all the youngsters how it's done. This is a classic, from legends, and it has all the talent, energy, nerve, charm and everything else that you can ask from a good rock song. Sure, they don't run around like if they were Mötley Crüe, but I think I can live with that. I think none us these guys are younger than 65. I'd love to play like them at that age.

thanks for that journal, keld! it showed me (and i think many others, too) that you shouldn't give up just when your scale doesn't show what you expect or want. i'm kind of stucked too or better said: i just lose small "portions" of my weight, but what counts is the long term loss. and there you go.... you never gave up and you always look forward - and that is how you should make it. wish you a wonderful day and a happy (with a new low?) weekend :)

OMG, OMG, OMG..... Amazing KingKeld... Can't believe that you have lost so much this week, particularly as you are at the end of your journey. An inspiration to us all, to..... Keep going... I say again AMAZING. By the way, thanks for the info about yourself... I always wondered, how you were so good at the English language - better than some of those who were born and bred in England - or America

Oh man, wish I had found you sooner! I guess I hide who I am too much, but your bio sounds identical to my personality. I am horrible for using bad language, I love teaching kids and taking care of the ill, and even though I havent mastered this weightloss thing- I love helping others with their issues. But man, the bad language and kids part tore me up! Love it! Way to go, Keld! Keep in touch!

You've had a great week - celebrate! Have that glass of wine and enjoy indulgence tomorrow. Btw - funny how in weight loss the highs are lows and the lows are highs, huh?
