cocobutt's Journal, 03 January 2017

Last night, Mr C made roasted pheasant, orzo with mushrooms, and roasted brussels sprouts. Interesting and autumn-y food.

Today, we're just scrounging in the fridge for whatever. We haven't done a meal plan yet. That should come next.

Our daughter is coming home for a one-week visit this Sunday. Since she's vegetarian, that would be a good opportunity to try some new recipes. I've always been a major carnivore. Over the holidays, we had prime rib, including some mom made and shared with us. Mr C gets tired of that fatty cut of meat, but that's what makes it extra delicious to me.

I've never had pheasant but the meal sounds so exotic! I eat increasingly less meat. A. Because of the budget. B. Because I've grown increasingly fond of veggies and beans. I use meat more as a condiment in my soups and stews.

Jo, everything I've read suggests that using meat as a condiment instead of a main course is the healthiest option. We do love soups -- and now that if finally feels like winter, I will look for more soup/stew recipes. :)
