So I am very happy with my loss. It shows to me, the shabu shabu is something maybe we all should be eating. I ate so much because the waiter couldn't speak English well, and he kept bringing out more food, because I was ruining it, by putting it into the wrong cooking bowls. He finally just gave up and became my cook. He was happy I tipped him $15 for making such a HUGE mess. It was a lot of fun. Band practice today! Have a great day!

That looks like a splendid Shabu! Is that Wagyu beef? It looks succulent! I found a vintage Oster SuperPot at a thrift store recently, and it's perfect for fondue or Shabu Shabu at home. It's becoming a go-to favorite for home meals. I freeze the meats, and slice them paper-thin on a (also vintage) Braun meat slicer. The biggest challenge here in 'da Souf' is finding fresh bean sprouts! No worries, though. I can get mung beans in Savannah at the Oriental grocery, and sprout them myself. The best stock I've found for anything Japanese is HonDashi....an instant dashi broth. If i'm feeling really ambitious, I'll make it from scratch with kombu kelp and shaved bonito flakes. But the HonDashsi is a really close second.

Funny, I have no clue. It was such a funny experience because the waiter really couldn't speak English. He got so frustrated when he saw me throwing food in the wrong pans. In the end, he bowed to me.

Mskestrela, I wish you could cook that for me. It sounds like you got this shabu shabu thing together. I am going to try it again soon. I ate until I was about sick, and lost two pounds.

In the third pic from the top, I ate two full plates of the veggies. He brought out another full plate, because I screwed up the first plate. All the food was gone at the end. Mind you, the meal is for two people.

Funny, the meal is usually $25, but it was only $17 lunch special.

LOL...Cooking With Dog is one of my favorite channels! I've been watching it for more than 5 years. Zagat has a whole bunch of videos on how to eat exotic food. (Maybe those are what you're watching). Anything I want to learn, you can bet there's a video about it! I even fixed my leaking washing machine from a YouTube video. :)

That's smart. I learn drum patterns on YouTube. You can find anything there!

Watching a show about domestic violence, and didn't realize Frankie Munoz was beat up by his live in model. I remember walking down the street to a Clippers game, and these girls were getting frenzied walking behind him. I look beside me, and there is little, Frankie.
