madaboutmoose's Journal, 29 January 2010

Friday. Caught up my weight entries this morning for the week. Lots of up and down within the current range. I am successfully keeping that mountain range look to my chart!

How did madaboutmoose sleep last night you might be wondering. Thanks for asking! Better than the night before!! Despite Amy's kind reminder to me about melatonin I forgot to take it!! DOLT!! I need to keep the bottle up by my bed I guess. I did dream a lot but no bad ones. However, I woke with a start this morning before the alarm, looked at my clock and thought it said 7:02 am. Sat up, put my glasses on, and it was only 4:02 am!! Went ahead and got up ... since my alarm goes off at 4:15 am.

Started the fire, put the coffee on, and did Pilates. I have one visit this morning ... 45 minutes to get there, an hour there, and 45 minutes back to the office. I'll be getting off at 1 pm so I can accompany Bob on our vending route and then down to his radiation appointment. I'm going to try to wrap up a little paperwork this morning before I hit the road ... see if I can at least make a small dent.

Looks like we will go out to breakfast tomorrow morning. Mom has to work and I don't think Bob wants her to drive. So much for the idea of sleeping in ... maybe on Sunday. I always think about a nap but it doesn't usually happen. It's okay ... we need to go to the dump to get rid of some household garbage anyway. And breakfast out is always nice. We might actually drive down to Costco and pick up an exercise bike mom saw there that she wants to buy. I guess Sunday will be my laundry day this week ... and with any luck my sleeping in day.

And so ... life goes on. Busy, busy, busy but certainly not bored. Our winter continues to be relatively mild, at least in terms of snowfall. Although we have had some VERY cold temperatures, lately it has warmed up and the County has actually put weight limits on the roads because there are Spring-like conditions causing the ground to thaw!! In January? Unbelievable. Makes me wonder what February and March will hold. Will winter arrive in April? Around here one just never knows!

Grateful. I am indeed always grateful for something ...

1. A long conversation with my very dearest friend last night ... listening to the challenges of her day at work which made mine pale in comparison
2. A better night of sleep!!
3. Honeybells from Harry & David ... so SWEET!!!!
4. HALFWAY done with radiation treatment as of tonight!
5. coffee, weekends, family, friends, doggy snuggles and so much more!!!

Have a fabulous Friday ... I just can't thank you each enough for the time you take to comment on my journal, the prayers and good thoughts you are sending our way, and the tidbits of your lives that you share with me.

Honeybells!? Every year Joe's mother sends my mom Honeybells, she thinks of it as sending a little bit of Florida up our way. I love your 5! I still cannot believe that you wake up so early, I am so jealous. I am sure even if I went to sleep at 6pm, I'll still have trouble rousing myself out of bed at 4:15am! I hope everything continues on the path with Bob. Things seem to be going well, and I hope that everything works out. I'm actually sure it will. Keep on smiling, moose! And send me some honeybells! :)

Glad you didn't have any bad dreams last night. You mentioned a vending route - what do you do?? I love going out for breakfast - Evan HATE breakfast! LOL Weekdays he doesn't eat till 11am, and thats usually his "first lunch." And he wonders why he keeps gaining weight.... Anyway - have a great Friday, and give Bill my regards and good luck with his radiation appointment.

I'm also curious about the vending route. Moose, you're like a good mystery that keeps unfolding. :) You sound in good spirits. Hope you and Bob enjoy driving around. My husband and I always have good talks and laughs in the car. I'm guessing honeybells are a kind of organge?

OMG - I'm sorry - I'm so bad with names!!! It takes me FOREVER to finally remember someones name - thats why I usually just give people nick-names!! LOL And about the driving bit - I LOVE going for long drives. That was the only reason I agreed to going back up to Cooperstown this past summer, and the only reason I'm finding a new place in Up State NY for next summer!

The Minneola tangelo is likewise a cross between a Duncan grapefruit and a Dancy tangerine, and was released in 1931 by the United States Department of Agriculture Horticultural Research Station in Orlando. Most Minneola tangelos are characterized by a stem-end neck which tends to make the fruit appear bell-shaped. Because of this it is called the Honeybell in the gift fruit trade where it is one of the most popular varieties, but the proper name is Minneola.

Ohh, ok. Thanks! Sounds great. Nothing like fresh citrus fruit in winter to brighten things up.

That is an interesting sounding fruit! Might have to try that out. I love tiny little clementines lately... that's my yummy citrus fruit! YAY on the half way mark being met today. As always, loved your 5. Have a great weekend Moose, I hope you do in fact get to sleep in on Sunday!!!

Ever had a grapple?? I've never even seen one, but someone told me about them once. Apparently, they LOOK like an apple, but TASTE like a grape. Sounds interesting, but I've still never found one at the market!

Wow! Halfway done with radiation, time sure flies. Now that I think of it, I seldom dream anymore, wonder why. So, I guess you should be grateful of your dreams good or bad. Remember also what Freud said about dreams as a wish fulfillment, there is at least some truth there.

I have not only not had a grapple I have never heard of such a thing!! Just got home and quickly heated up some spaghetti soup as I was STARVING!!! Bob stopped and had a Cheeseburger this afternoon at ZIPS. I was sorely tempted but stopped myself at a few of his fries. Chris I LOVE Clementines ... we recently ate our way through a 5 lb box ... YUM!!! Info ... some things Freud said were interesting and have merit ... others? PSHAW!!! I'm frightened to death if my nightmare, any part of it were wish fulfillment!! I think perhaps they might have been related to my fears ... those things that are deeply inside that I don't give much attention to because they are non-productive.

Fears and wishes are first cousins, no? Just kidding anyway...

I'm with you m.a.moose - no wish fulfillment when I was giving birth to polaroids in my dream! SO glad BillyBob is half way through treatments! Congrats on exerting monumental control at Zips!

Info ... too funny ... you must give me clues when you are kidding ... I am such a serious one!! Amy ... LMAO!!! I forgot about your birthing polaroids dream ... talk about freaky!!! And BillyBob ... a new handle for my man!! LOL!!! I could have ate a bucket of cheeseburgers and fries!!! Yikes ... talk about indigestion!!

Wow quite the journal today. I'm glad you are well and no more bad dreams. I love those clementines too. Enjoy your breakfast tomorrow or should I say today as it is almost 3 am here.

Moose, it is so true that the things deep inside are non-productive. I tend to dwell on them and try to figure out what they "mean," etc., but--so true! Non productive. I'm guessing you're more of the cognitive behavior therapy camp vs psychoanalysis. I can definitely see how one moves you forward and the other keeps you jammed up in the past. And I agree about Freud. Some thoughts are useful and others are clearly ridiculous.
