debrafrederick's Journal, 22 June 2016

Ick, well I have cause and effect on this uptick, fluid retention. It's down from where it was on Monday though, I was up 4 pounds then so it is somewhat improved. Hopefully we will see a whoosh and a reduction down below 200 next week. It really is my fondest wish to be be in Onederland by the end of June. I think I will make it! Despite all of the downsides to having a TOM, I still take it as a positive result and a sign that my hormones are re-balancing in a healthy manner. You guys keep keeping on and have a fabulous day. Be good to yourselves and keep up a flow of positive energy, it not only improves your health, it's the true path to happiness :)

TOM is that unwelcome visitor that shows up every month to remind you that your reproductive organs are still operational :)

TOM = Time Of the Month, Carmen. I am late reading journals .... don't mind me.

You are welcome, Carmen! I am the same. I don't miss my TOM either! :o)

Don't miss my friend; I miss the hormones. :(

LOL I don't miss it either and I am very glad it's almost done! I love the resurgence of my hormones though, I actually had someone ask me if I was in love or pregnant...of course I looked at them like they had lost their mind and he explained that I was glowing and to him it usually indicates someone who is expecting a child or madly in love. I didn't want to explain the last 3 months to him so I simply said, "I have been madly in love for 32 years!" He was satisfied with that answer.

@DF..........it's amazing how WOE can drastically change things. Menopause prompt me to make a whole lot of changes.

it really is amazing Engeland, I was just sitting here thinking about all of the positive changes I have made in my diet in the past two years, first it was the sodas. I just quit and the bloating and gas and the acne I have had since age 12 went away. Then I found LCHF, added back in healthy fats and eliminated sugar and cut down on wheat. I have always been a boxed meal eater.....five out of every 7 meals came from some type of box, Hamburger helper, macaroni and cheese, potatoes au gratin, stuffing, tuna helper, boxed dried pasta...you name it...we ate it. I only cooked and ate one meal a day for 35 years. It wasn't the quantity we ate, it was the quality. Now I have completely eliminated wheat from my diet, most starches and grains and all processed foods other than sausage (I love sausage, it may be eliminated later but not right now) and right now I'm not eating as often and I feel better than I have ever felt and I look great, I look healthy! My movement is pain free, my mind is clear and sharp. My memory is improving. My skin...wow my skin is the most amazing skin I have ever had, no dryness, no flaking, wrinkles shallow and getting shallower. The ladies at the PO want to know what cream I have been using to get younger. Real food when you are Real hungry and not a minute before...it is amazing!

Did you tell them (co-workers) about your WOE? When you are giving your body what it needs there is NO need for creams. You know? When you know better you do better. You sound like you are in a good place physically and mentally. You knew when enough was enough and made a change and are sticking with it. You should be very proud of what you have already accomplished. My journey is a bit different. I never had a REAL weight problem until I was in my 40's. One day I looked at my profile in the mirror and said "holy !@#& I am fat." Lol.

Haha! I don't have any co-workers Engeland, I am the only employee in that office and I work 6 days a week, the ladies I'm referring to are my daily customers, they come in every day to check the mail and to chat. I don't tell them about my WOE, mainly because these are Southern fried ladies. They would never even CONSIDER eliminating bread, breading, potatoes, gravy and sugar from their diets. They have asked me how I am losing weight, I said...I stopped eating bread..they were horrified :) They said, "Oh you poor thing!" LOL, I know when to shut my mouth!
24 Jun 16 by member: debrafrederick
Oh, ok. Hehehe...........don't try to take their cobblers, potatoes or deep fried chicken away. LOL. Poor thing? Like you can't live without bread. A wise woman knows when to do that..........keep quiet.

Debra, that is the cooking out here in Narnia, too. The neighbors I have are the best anyone could ask for ... and they are Southern cooks .. all the way. Cornbread and brown beans ... fried chicken ... lots and lots of overcooked veggies ... it is the way it is. Cakes! The women here are fatter then me. They can't understand how I can not eat cake. I love sausage, too. Always have. I have cut back a lot but still love the stuff. I have made my own and that satisfies me for a while. I want to make Italian sausage next. I need a good recipe.

I will keep an eye out Mom, if we ever go hog hunting and get us a good one, I'm going to make up my own sausage. I have the meat grinder and all the little gadget attachments, I was also thinking of making some jerkey when and if we ever get a steer ready to eat. I have sooooo many things on my bucket list. I still want to make my own goat's milk soaps, my own candles. I already make my own perfume, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant and laundry soap. Right now I have my dehydrator drying rose petals and peppermint and rosemary for my next batch of shampoo...

Debra, I found that once I started making my own organic products, I can't justify using anything with any chemical in it.

yes, I find that I cringe away from the health and beauty isles at the store, the reading I was doing about having an insulin response when you put things in your mouth made me look at my toothpaste last week, so I mixed up some baking soda, coconut oil and peppermint oil and that is what I am now brushing my teeth with instead of artificial sweetener laced fluoride, sodium lauryl sulfate and other chemicals, it was my last hold out and now it's gone.

I use the same recipe for toothpaste! Again, great minds think alike :)

Hi, Can you please post the exact amount of the ingredients and what kind of peppermint oil and coconut oil are you using? Do you get your ingredients at a health food store? Thank you in advance. God bless you.
25 Jun 16 by member: petragannon
I used to use exact amounts, now I just go by taste and the amount I need.
25 Jun 16 by member: Sugar Waffle
1/2 C coconut oil, 2-3 T baking soda, 2 small packets of stevia and 15-20 drops of peppermint essential oil. I personally don't use any type of sweetener

I'm sorry, but what is TOM. I am having severe problems with swelling. I gained 20 pounds in the month of April. My legs were so swollen, they actually leaked fluid out. Talk about scared. The next month when I was weighted, I lost 21 pounds go figure. Checked out my heart and kidneys and I am suffering from self absorbed sodium intake. I don't even eat chips. I just found this wonderful site and now have all the calories, fat and sodium levels at my fingertips. I have also found a couple of challenges which I will be starting on Monday. YEY
