What a weekend!

Saturday I did something that I have not done EVER through my weigh loss journey. I chose to take a day of not giving a damn. I think stress at work and a little frustration of not really losing much for a couple of weeks did me in. It was Indulgence Day and I really needed a break, so I decided to do what I felt like, and I made the free pass available for Saturday only. The deal was to be back on track for Sunday, which I did just fine.

I had so many good foods (which I always have, just didn't calculate it much) but what really added calories was chocolate, chips and alcohol. We had movie night at home, with friends coming over, and it was with everything that goes with a fun movie night.

Normally, I just have a little, and make sure to register my intake, but it was nice to NOT have to do all that. At the same time it was frightening to let go of the reins.

It was a great night, though, but I am very happy that I'm back on track.

Sunday came the dreaded weigh-in after. I gained 3 kgs (6 lbs!). I did rough estimates of all I ate, and I think I can say I had TWICE as many calories as I had burned that day. NOT good! This means that I can count on an actual fat gain from my Saturday intake. I am okay with it, it just have to go!

So I stayed within my RDI Sunday, no problems. The hardest part what the withdrawals from sugar and alcohol which gave me INSANE cravings. It took quite some effort to not go nuts, and I am happy we didn't have too much bad stuff in the kitchen cabinets. I indulged in my low calorie ice cream when I felt that I needed more (which was quite often) but this is not at all bad in my opinion. It's there for the same reason, to keep me out of trouble. It works great, and tastes delicious.

I have to admit I did not do any exercise Saturday/Sunday. Saturday mostly because we were off to another town to shop already at 8:30 am, and didn't come home until short before guests arrived. Sunday probably more due to being worn down from the alcohol. I can tell that I will NEVER become an alcoholic. It's too rough on you!

So now it's Monday morning and I am VERY determined that I am back on track. I am motivated to go to the gym today after work for an hour on the treadmill, and I have videos lined up to watch was I walk. This is a good way for me to take my mind off the mind numbing boring exercise. Did I mention that I don't really like exercise? LOL...

Also, I did my Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition already. I can still tell that my body is not all fit for fight after Saturday. It's amazing how fast we can go down hill isn't it? Anyways, I was determined that I was gonna up the difficulty of my morning workout today, and I was pretty sure that I couldn't handle it. It was SO close that I was gonna just go with the easy one again, but I got hard headed and went for the medium level. I'm so glad I did. It was ROUGH on me, but I did it! I gotta say that made me proud. I can tell I am more prone to falling behind on this one, but I am not sure if some of it is also that I haven't tried the new moves before. Hopefully in a few days (or weeks - I think I'll be stuck on this one for a little while) I will have it down by heart so I can do it easier. I am sure I will.

So today I have a tight schedule. After I finish writing this, it's time to play bass. Then off to work. Then after work hit the gym. After the gym, go home and cook. Wife is sick, and as much as I know she won't mind cooking, I want her to just relax and take it easy and recover. I always get worried when she gets sick. So cooking will be my turf tonight. I hope everyone survives. THEN after dinner, I can relax. We've got a few shows and moves lined up for tonight. I hope they're good. :)

So, it's first day of what WILL turn out to be an awesome week, full of great little experiences. I've got work, rocking with the kids, exercising and for once a Friday night off with no band practice. I'll miss rocking with the guys, but I'll enjoy a Friday night at home with Wife.

Happy Monday everyone! Life is good!

Seeing as I have the exact same scales as you, they may have a scales virus....not budging here either, day 12 of busting a gut, to no avail! Saturday freefall was not a bad thing, planning your recovery is the key. Alcohol is a killer, wipes me out completely the day after but that is only ever twice a year.......My tv made me laugh and actually say 'hello Keld' to it, out loud! We are back in our bedroom and I turned on the tv whilst sorting things out....it's an LG and it has an openingg screen that says 'Life's Good'....do you get royalties...lol!! XX

:-) glad you had a good weekend..... It must have been the weekend for everyone to have an "off diet" day. I did the same on Saturday - although I did try to fill my diet calendar in, on Sunday. It does you good every now and then - like a practise for when we have got to where we need to be :-)

Glad you're back so determined. You'll do well; I have no doubt. And enjoy your Friday night off with Mrs. P.

KK- "The hardest part what the withdrawals from sugar and alcohol which gave me INSANE cravings." - Learned this lesson the hard way myself... and just can't say enough about not being prepared for this mentally - this could be someone's BIGGEST downfall, if they are not looking for it! (what food does to us, on the inside - where we cannot control it once it's in there... this fascinates me!)

@jsfantome - You're absolutely right. We all know that it's all about getting back in the saddle, but sometimes that saddle is places on a VERY tall horse. The key is to be mentally prepared for this - if you want the "go-nuts-day", then prepare for the wrath of the Mighty Cravings Demon the day after. It's gonna happen. Prepare. Get rid of bad snacks. Buy carrots. :) And yes, this is where pretty much ALL the danger lies. I still have habits that I need to be strong to not succomb to - one is late night sweets. I handle it by eating my low cal ice cream. This way I don't feel that I am missing out, but I can definitely tell that I'm not a happy bunny if we run out and I need it. I'll go check the kitchen cabinets. Then, an hour later I will go check again like if some food would magically materialize from out of nowhere. :)

So glad to hear you made it through Sunday and are now onto Monday and back in your groove!!! Looking forward to hearing how you did today ... and hearing about your adventures!!

Yeah sometimes you just need to indulge to help brighten your mood. Afterwards you realize how bad it was for you and then that also gives you strength to get right back on track and continue. These past two weeks was like that for me actually. The holidays made me lazy. I ate decent, had a little splurge here and there and did not work out. I might have not really gained any weight, but I didn't lose any either. Got back on track yesterday (Sunday), but last night I didn't sleep a wink thanks to the husband being up and about and not sleepy. Now my back is killing me so today I have to take it easy. Tomorrow should be a better day since he will be back at work haha.
