Fledgist's Journal, 06 November 2011

This morning my weight registered at 179.2 lbs; 12 st 11.2 lbs; 81.28 kg. I had a pretty active day yesterday. A couple of hours worth of walking, albeit not at all fast, through the High Museum's exhibit of modern art (from Picasso to Warhol) borrowed from the Museum of Modern Art in New York. After spending the morning at work talking to potential incoming freshmen (I did have a live exhibit with me, one of our MA students who's also been an undergraduate and who works for CNN International -- you too can have an exciting career if you get a degree in political science, work with Anderson Cooper, get shot at in Pakistan, and take photographs of the dead Muammar Qathafi, all of which my graduate assistant has done) that was fun.

The important thing here (and I am, as they say, burying the lede): I have dropped 200 lbs since I started my diet. I think that's an impressive achievement. I wasn't sure that I could do it when I started, much less reach my original goal (12 stone; 168 lbs) or my current goal of 164 lbs (11 st, 10 lbs). Now, I am getting really close to them.

My BMI is now 25.7. I wish I had a good way of measuring body fat. I still have excess flab in places and exercise is slow to remove it.
179.2 lb Lost so far: 157.8 lb.    Still to go: 11.2 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
