Oh boy ... it is the day before the day before Christmas!! We will actually open gifts on Christmas Eve ... after our Tamale Feast!! Since all our kids are grown ... my husband likes to say "we're adults and we can do whatever we want!!"

Our son will be staying the weekend with us. Usually he can only stay one night and then has to work the next day. So, Christmas being on a weekend is a good thing!! We'll have that to look forward to next year as well.

My weight is good. This is my 7th day in a row in the 170's. I know I will go up with Tamales and Christmas Dinner but I also know I can bring it right back down. I'm feeling good.

My five for today ...

1. shopping for my own stocking stuffers!!
2. counting down the days to the holiday weekend
3. the trust that others invest in me
4. being able to enjoy my date nut bread AND be in the 170's (okay the high 170's but still!!!) for 7 consecutive days
5. "doing" for my family

Go out there and get those last minute errands and shopping done. I'll be picking up my roast from the market today myself!! Have a fine day full of fabulous friends, fantastic fun-filled moments, and fortunate moments of gratitude!!

I was very surprised when I came to Canada to see that people open their gifts on christmas day... in France, and maybe all Europe (I,m not sure about that) we have a HUGE dinner at Christmas Eve, at midnight Santa comes with the gifts and we open them at this time. and after gifts, we eat dessert! on Christmas day, we usually go to the other part of family for a HUGE lunch, and find the gifts that Santa brought the night before lol! great job on staying in the 170's! even with the little gain from christmas goodies, you are now comfortably set in this range... time to update your goal weight ;-) have a wonderful day!!!

Jessy ... my husband's family always had the same Christmas Eve tradition as you do. Interestingly enough, the family speaks French ... and migrated from Canada to the US a couple of generations ago (originally from Ireland!!). My family's tradition was to open 1 gift on Christmas Eve and then the rest on Christmas morning, after Santa came. Through the years my husband has converted me. We did maintain the Christmas morning tradition when our kids were little but now ... I pretend we are going to wait but always give in!! LOL!! This year I am not even pretending ... we are even going to do stockings on Christmas Eve!! I'm excited ... it is always fun to watch my family open gifts and enjoy good food!!

MOTG ... you've never had a tamale??? You'll have to look for an opportunity to try one!! My boys (hubby and son) are sooo excited for their tamales. Well, okay, me too!! I know you will have a great Christmas ... so much fun to watch little ones opening packages!!

I'm so proud of your weight control! I love reading everyone's Christmas traditions. With no kids around to celebrate with, we don't really get into the gift thing too much. Lee and I don't do it at all, but when we spend the day with my folks we exchange a few gifts. We're getting freezing rain for Christmas, so I think I'm going to suggest to my parents that we come tomorrow instead to celebrate.

Check you out! You are on fire! Must be that fiber in the date bread keeping you so 'nice'... lucky! I got my date fix btw. Your tamale feast and opening gifts on eve sounds so much like my holiday. We are at our aunts house til midnight though so when we get home we are exhausted so we finish up in the morning! we open the fam gifts there. I love love your five today!

I love your number 5 today! Love-love-love it! Today was the first real day of my 12-day vacation and it was awesome to have the energy to "do for my family" also. Enjoy your Christmas tamales! What a unique tradition!
