Today is a great day! I reached a new, lowest weigh-in for the first time in several weeks, having had to battle with yo-yo weight and water retention and what have you.
This last week I completely cut out rice and potatoes, and only had rye bread in the mornings (and no other bread throughout the day). It seems to really have flushed out all the water retained, and bringing me towards a more "lean" weight. How great that is!
So today, I weigh in at 91.3 kgs, and I am well on my way towards my goal of being under 90 on Wednesday morning. I hope I can do it. I keep thinking "how much water have I retained" and wonder, if it will shop before Wednesday, but I am also thinking that if my lowest weigh-in was several weeks ago, I should be able to get below 90 in a few days more, as long as I can keep getting rid of water weight.
I took the decision to cut the rice etc Monday morning, when I weighed in at 96 kgs. I've already lost 4.7 kgs of that. Wow. I gotta say I'm proud.
I run statistics of my weight loss so I can read the averages of how much I need to lose per day to reach my next goal. Monday, I had to lose 666 grams, but I am now so far ahead of schedule that I only need to lose 325 grams per day to reach my goal. This should be accomplishable.
It's Saturday, but this week I will NOT be doing "spike day". I know that if I do it today, I will spend several days just getting back to where I am today, and if I want to reach my goal on Wednesday I can't afford that. So my plan is to simply eat my normal 1700 calories today, and go for the higher RDI again next Saturday.
I'm also curious to see what happens when I skip one. Does it really not matter as long as there is one now and then, or do they need to be on a tight schedule? Maybe I can reduce them to every 10th or 14th day? We'll see - I'll make sure to report results here AND on the posting in the forum, for everyone's future reference.
Also, I'm kinda not happy calling this "Spike Day". Sure, it's based on the "Spike Diet", but first of all I don't see it as a "diet" and second of all, I kinda understand that there is more to the Spike Diet system than just what I do. I don't want the dude that wrote the book to get all mad if he thinks I am spreading knowledge that you should get from buying his book - I really wouldn't know if I am, as I never read it. I took information from many sources, including his, and make it work. End of story. What do you guys think? New name for what we're doing? Splurge Day? The "So easy a caveman can do it"-weight-loss-project? The "Live And Lose"-Day? I dunno. If you have a good name for the "diet" (for lack of a better word) and the actual day, let me know. :)
Last night, playing with my band was AWESOME! First of all, I got to try my new bass guitar with the band, and it sounded brilliant. What a difference quality makes! We reached some new grooves that I don't feel that we've reached before, the sound of the band is so important. The new bass really fills out the sound in a brand new way, and I love it. I got to tweak the sound to my liking and to fit the band and playing style and I got to play LOUD! :)
Today is Saturday, we're gonna do gardening and go do some shopping. Hopefully that'll burn some calories. LIFE IS GOOD!

I think you should call it 'Scooby Day' as Scooby Doo was a Great Dane too..lol!!! Or may be a 'LIG' day? I think shaking it up once in a while should work equally well, possibly better.... if you keep the numbers the same and therefore have more low cal days to 'Scooby days', your overall average cals will be lower over the month and your metabolism will still get a good shake up. Life sounds great for you at the moment.... I think that having a "splurge" every other week or every 10-12 days sounds like it could work even better. I will be interested to see how it goes....well done on the lowest ever weight :-). Life is indeed good.

Glad your guitar arrived at last and seems to be working well ;) I call my spike day "Indulgence Day". I look forward to it every week and wouldn't want to miss it. It doesn't stop me from losing one pound a week. This might seem slow for some but I am happy with it. Fingers crossed for Wednesday, you are so close now!

Hey Lara, I like the sound of 'Indulgence Day' I think Speilberg could make another $billion with that title...lol.... Who would you get to play you in the title roll? That question is open to everyone?

1st off- Im proud of you- and showed you off to some friends at work, they are also amazed at your progress. 2nd, Scooby Day is awesome...lol and if every 14 days or so, a person decides to treat them selves with rich, fatting or sweet foods, i think its "normal" to do so and as long as its in moderation should keep you on the path of good health for the rest of your life.

@Sarah - you know, it's so weird for me to be the inspiration. I can't get that to fit in my head. I really appreciate it, though, and I love the fact that someone else can maybe be motivated to do this because of little old me. The good news on that is that if I can do it, so can everyone else. :) Thanks, Sarah. It means a lot. - and of course it's all right for us to go nuts and eat something "good" every now and then. Once we have done this for a while, I think it's easy enough to both lose weight and maintain when we are "done" (well, technically, we're never really gonna be done, are we? I know I'll keep count forever in one way or another), so I think in the future it's all about moderation, and when we choose to NOT moderate, then compensate. After doing this for a year, it's not really that hard to figure out. Once I go to maintenance mode (in quite a while still), there will be many more calories to spend in a day, and Spiky, Scooby Indulgence days may not at all be necessary.
