JovialJ's Journal, 06 January 2016

I have been having a rough time with the snacking after 8 pm. And I have not been recording all of it...not sure if it is because I don't want to admit that I am doing it to myself or if I feel embarrassed. I made some good choices with the snacking and ate 4 stalks of celery, but I also had some candy. Anyway, I have yet to add exercise back into my daily routine as well. I don't have my mind right about letting go of old habits that are not in alignment with my stated goal yet but I am getting there.

I've been thru this before... my advice to is to record it, bc once you see the carbs/calories or what ever your watching, you will remember that before you do it again. I'm so guilty of this too... I always want something sweet after dinner and I know this so I stocked up on low carb stuffs and jello and whip cream and sugar free gum.. the gum helps a lot bc i get that sweet flavor in my mouth but I'm not really eating anything.. What also has helped me lately is taking it one day at a time. Just one day with out cheating...I also drink crystal light or make pop cycles out of it...I recently had to take it to the extreme and throw away EVERYTHING that was on the no no list . My family just about sh!t eggrolls but oh well ... too bad.. hang in there, be honest with yourself and you will push thru it.. I know this to be true about you!!

You can do this! the cravings do lessen. I'm trying to get in the habit of having a really good tea or coffee in the evening when I want *something* but I'm not really hungry. And it DOES seem like a treat!

Record it !!! is right I put a spread sheet on my phone, and link to this site and everything that goes in my mouth, goes on that sheet. I total after every meal, or snack, and have my limits listed and just stay under them.

I have the same problem. After dinner and before bedtime- I want that extra something. I know it isn't good to eat after 6 or 7PM, but that's when I want a delicious snack. It's hard to find something that is good for me and get the urge under control. About 9 or 9:30pm is the time frame that really gets to me. I am trying and so far I have stayed within my numbers. Right before bedtime isn't a good time to eat. Hang in there with the rest of us. Support..support..support!!

I lost 80 pounds in 2015 by making a couple of rules: no snacking, no desserts. If you eat enough in 3 meals, you won't be hungry later. Try substituting an after dinner walk for your after-hours snack instead. The exercise will kill the hunger pangs. Also you can try having a cup or two of Sleepytime hot tea at night for flavor without the calories.

Here's what I do that really helps me. After dinner I brush my teeth. Removing the taste of food from my mouth makes me think less about food. With the right distractions like getting out of the house or working on a project, I can keep my mind off food quite well. The other thing is to not have any snacks in house, just throw them all in the garbage, then take the garbage to the curb! Hope this helps!

I have the same problem with night time snacking. Once started I find it hard to stop. What works for me is to not get started...

Thanks for the suggestions and reminding me of some of the things I used to know and use along with some new info to put in my wgt. loss toolkit.
