Yes, I'm finding that really 'listening' to my body ultimately pays off -- even if/when that means doing LESS than I'd like. Your foot will thank you!

Pays to listen to your body. Also if your are standing to do that canning find yourself a stool.

Thanks everyone. I have a bone density test coming up to see if there is a more extensive problem. I have a sneaking suspicion that running may be off the menu for awhile so I just need to explore some low impact options. Lol WFN I cut up some wood to make a stool for the kitchen since I spend so much time cooking, baking bread etc but I haven't got out to the shop to put it together yet.

hey, I love love my stools. This old girl does the sit option at times. ;)) Hope your bone density test is ok, mine wasn't. Not surprising as it is inherited and my Mom had osteo pretty badly. Only one of my 3 girls is listening to me to start strength training to help with bone density, wish I had know that years and years ago. Doc and I are working hard to lessen the impact or even reverse the affects. High impact has not been an option for me since I screwed up my leg in 1986.

Osteoporosis can be a complication of something else I have apparently. That and the dairy allergy has probably done me a double whammy. Take your calcium ladies and start weight training!

Really calcium citrate along with D and magnesium so your body can use it. Strength training for sure to increase your bone density. Me, I'm also on a med to help as well, not crazy about taking it but I know what osteo did to my Mom and watching my DD's MIL get more and more hunch backed every year and have more problems getting around from it. She also has major prior injuries that hinder her being able to exercise. It's amazing she can get around at all, but she is one tough determined woman.

I just had a bone density test done yesterday. I have osteopenia (stage before osteoporosis) because about 8 years ago I was extremely hyperthyroid. Because of the severely increased metabolism, I lost a lot of bone mass. The estrogen inhibitor that I had to take for 5 years to prevent breast cancer recurrence didn't help either - it's like a menopause on fast forward. I know the test two years ago showed I had lost 9.6% bone mass in my lower spine. I was still in the osteopenia range though. So now I need to take the test every two years. Good thing the insurance pays for it.

You are lucky I had to pay for the first one. Mine only pays after 65..now @ 66 they will cover every 2 years. sheesh. I take steroids everyday that contribute to osteo. They didn't count that or I had to show that my Mom had osteo with current records, she died in 2007 ---Mmmmm. No sense.

It paid for it because it was necessary due to a medical condition. Same as they pay for my eye check up even if normally they don't cover vision, because I have Graves Disease, that can affect the eyes.
