northernmusician's Journal, 29 May 2015

Well, what can I say. Felt a binge coming on so I decided yesterday would be a re-feed day. Grabbed good stuff. Ground beef, almonds, an orange, and some oats for just over 3100 calories. (Sugar Crisp and Chocolate you all won't know about if you don't check my log. Oops.)

It's astonishing to me what sugar and starch does. I'm maybe 6-700 calories over what I believe will be maintenance, and my weight is up by almost 2 pounds. I know it's water. It just takes time to clear. The calories should only account for about 4 oz of fat. I had fun though. :) It's nice to be able to delve from time to time. Glad the bulk of my choices were good (though I think they were all 'good').

At least times of "experimenting" (sounds better than binge!) like that help us get an idea of what we can and can't do, or what it'll cost us. I'm finding that getting close to 3000 calories a day for a couple days will cost me a couple pounds as long as I don't go nuts with carbs. Not bad really, and doesn't take too long to get it back off.

Try to binge on string beans for a change .... (*lol*) i bet you you cannot do it! It is always chocolate, cheese, meat, chips. Or as i like to call them: carb (sugar), fat (grease), protein (animal kind) and minerals (salt).

We all need a break now and then. At least you stayed with good foods mostly. Keep on keeping on.

Nicho. Do you know of a good recipe? I'd try them. Honest I would.

Put fresh green beans in a zip bag, pour in a swig of olive oil and shake. Put on a cookies sheet, bake at 400 for 20 minutes(depends on your oven). They should look a bit shriveled. Salt to taste. I do the same thing with carrots or cauliflower or asparagus... You get the idea. My kids will eat almost any veggie roasted and salted lol.

Going to have to try the green bean or asparagus thing. Not to fear, NM, you've got t0 tickle the palate now and then.

I have heard you can cook them that way on the grill too.

fun to hear you can actually desecrate string beans to make them taste like chips... but in the end, during a binge-mood, what will you go for?

Maud, I'm afraid you're correct. I'm not sure string beans qualify as a 'binge' food. lol
