Brandy277's Journal, 24 April 2015

I'm not doing very well in the eating department! Lord knows I love bread tooooo much! But I have a drs appt. next Wednesday so I'm going to talk to him about what needs to be checked because I haven't eaten candy since Feb. and I haven't eaten meat for 2 years so there is no reasonable explanation why I shouldn't be losing weight. Now I know stress kills the metabolism and I haven't been recording my food but this is a little much. I'm going to start recording my food again everyday starting right now! Hopefully I can recognize a pattern of defeating behavior! Hope everyone is having a good Friday 🌽

Logging my food really helps me track what works and what doesn't. May I suggest you check out a book called "Wheat Belly" and another called "Grain Brain"? We have been taught to eat low fat and high carbohydrates - which keeps us all fat. Eating more protein and healthy fats really kicks the metabolism up. Low carbs and no refined white stuff can help you lose. I have been doing a ketogenic program and finally have seen the scale move. Good luck.

Also, track your calories. You may not be eating much, but you may be eating the wrong foods--foods filled with fat and calories. You'd be surprised how many calories are in foods you thought were okay. Until I started tracking everything that went in my mouth, I didn't lose. I sometimes don't like to admit that I messed up, but I have to do it or I'm cheating myself--no one else. Also, check your thyroid. I have a chronic problem with my thyroid (had part of it removed). If your thyroid isn't working properly (hypothyroidism), you can do all you want and you still won't lose weight.

Yes, tracking food is so important to weight loss. You can still overeat even when you eat a plant based diet. Making sure you get enough protein is very important too. A wide variety from many sources is good and will help with weight loss.
