gained a few pounds; still on a vegan diet; although exercising/walking a lot less and eating liberal amounts of high calorie foods, avocacados, nuts, dried fruits they say you can't gain weight on a vegan diet but found that you can gain weight although it is very insignifcant amount of weight gain; i've been binging on nuts, a few avocados eating as much carbs, moderate sugar and only gained 3 pounds from my all time low weight so it seems that a vegan diet is very good at maintaining and controlling my weight.
174.0 lb Lost so far: 26.0 lb.    Still to go: 14.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

the weight gain of a vegan diet is insignifcant if you realize that my calorie intake now is in the normal 2600-3000 per day and have been binging on nuts 1 cup per day; although this is just an estimate of my caloric intake; i've not been counting only reason why i'm eating this much is to gain what my upper limits are with a vegan diet. i proves that you can gain weight on a vegan diet if you overeat the high fat high calorie vegetarian foods, nuts, carbs, sugar, dried fruits, avocados.

may decide to go on another calorie count to prevent myself from adopting bad vegan eating habits like overeating nuts, peanuts.

have to admit that i was bored with dieting also its ok to to let loose once in a while and break out of the disciplined diet although have still maintained a 100 percent vegan diet still.

Yea, you can gain weight on any diet if you eat too much. In the end, you have to eat less and move more. I wouldn't worry about plain veggies and fruit. But portion out the high caloric foods.

4 cups of breakfast cereals with soy protein powders and 3 tablespoons of sugar/are high calorie, so are avocados, and rasins and cups of cashews, pine nuts, pistachios. this is they type of binge eating i've been on and gained a few pounds but the weight gains are insignificant when you consider the amount of calories i've consumed its in the 2000 plus range.

Who say you can't gain weight? there are plenty obese vegans out there.

really there are obese vegans? you can gain wieght as a vegan but it is really hard to gain weight because you get full really fast and the food is really filling with not much calories; never seen one though(obese vegan)

Vegans do it wrong in so many ways, many think just because they eat fruits and veggies is healthy and they eat w/e amount. I follow a group on facebook and they share recipes...so much sugar, carbs are rapidly absorbed and if not burned turns into fat, 1 hour later you get hungry again, i used to ravage my fridge after a big carb lunch or dinner. If you see a thin vegan chances are he was allready that way and choosed to be one because lolface food or someone fat who simply eat at deficit and exercise.

i cut out the eating as much as you want because you can start adopting bad eating habits and go into denial thinking you can eat anything vegan as much as you want when you can't eat as many carbs, sugar, dried fruits, nuts etc these have to be limited and your main diet is mostly low calorie /non starchy fruits and vegetables if you want to lose weight on a vegan diet. i stopped the bad eating habits and lost 3 pounds overnight suddenly it is amazing what you can do when you are in tune with your habits.

I have been off my diet for months and am trying to get started again. It's hard. I've put on 10 pounds what I've lost before I need a prayer?
