LuC2's Journal, 24 February 2015

I'm BACK. I don't make New Year's resolutions but usually take February for a little life direction (after the novelty of "This year I promise I will..." has passed for many folks.). My holidays were replete with, "Just one more bite..." which ran a close second to, "What the heck, life is short..." And, alas, my weight uptick shows I'm paying the price for my deliciously beautiful homemade German Chocolate Cakes and Chai Creme Pound Cakes.

Life was sweet...very, very sweet! I'm more of a food and carb-craver than sugar so this new found sugar demon was a strange bedfellow whose company I quite enjoyed. Couple that with the happiness of my husband and kids and I was craving the approving smiles as much as the warm-from-the-oven embrace of the sugar demon! Come January, did a lot more restaurant eating with family. Not fast food, but it's still harder to control fat, calories and portions away from home. Some deaths in the family which brought on a hoard of family togetherness and oven-baked mac and cheese self-medication for us all. As a rule, still eating clean (little to no processed foods) -- I'm a little warped about the quality of my food and don't stray far from it. As usual, my ruination has been portion-control...no moderation there. Doesn't seem like a lot of food by comparison, but high-carb (read: comfort food) in double portions has taken its toll! Hired a personal trainer this go-'round (someone 40+ in fabulous shape).

My bane of contention has been focus. So hard to stay on track as the only one in the house responsible for the plan and feeding everyone. But, since I don't want to be the next person for whom the bell tolls, I'm BACK. Back to business and back to basics which, for me, means mindfulness with FatSecret. Any of my old Buddies still around? #StillFiguringItOut

Welcome back, I can totally understand all of the "actions" since the beginning of the year. I, too, have struggled with some of what you are struggling with. My downfall was always sweets and strangely enough, it has turned to salty, crispy foods. I find that weird for me, but just another habit to try to break now. Any time is a good time to come back. We just need to all come back and support each other.

I am so glad you are back! It is never to late to get on track, or back on track. Even on maintenance, it helps to track food intake. I'm on here for long term, even when I slip up. So, lets do this!!
