cocobutt's Journal, 06 July 2011

I'm pretty sure I will never do these things again: drink soda or sweet tea, buy or eat Krispy Kreme glazed donuts, Pop Tarts, or refined breakfast cereals. I almost said no white bread ever again, but I know I will eat an In-n-Out burger the next time I go to Cali and I don't think wheat buns are an option. Can't say I'll never eat a Haagen Dazs again either, but at least it's not an every weekend thing.

I was thinking about how I was eating about a year-and-a-half ago. I felt like I couldn't consume enough rice and pasta. I'd make two or three trips back to the kitchen and fill up my plate each time. And I'd feel sad whenever I'd get close to the last bite. I'd swing by Walgreen's and buy a large bag of chocolate almonds and eat the entire bag in one evening. I don't know if it was physiological or psychological. It is an addiction, without doubt. I don't know if I can be sure I'm fully recovered from this problem. I have to remind myself whenever I feel like overindulging that it will make me sick -- dizzy, bloated, irritable. It's good to have these state-of-mind analyses because mindless face-stuffing is what got me in trouble before.

58 lbs! You have really done well. That is a significant loss and you should be proud of it...and you know your body loves it! I live about 2 miles from an in-n-out! (My favorite and only fast food j oint that I visit) I go there about 1 time a week and order a double=double, extra cheese, no sauce, with onion, add pickles. But I always order it protein style (lettuce wrap/no bun) It is good, it is legal and it is under @ 11 carbs. As for our evil friend Haagen Daz? MAke your own ice cream out of Heavy whipping cream & diet soda...sometime I use cream, coco powder & stevia to squelch a chocalate craving. Invest in a tiny hand crank ice-cream maker...that way you can make only the legal amount without the leftovers tempting you. One more trick I use for choc craving? I rub pure coco poweder on my wrist and smell it as I watch tv. It really works! Try it!

The closest In-n-Out is about 7 states away from me! I only get to eat at one when I visit my daughter in San Diego. But thanks to you, I will now order the protein style. I knew they had "animal style" but not a bunless version. Thank you!

Love your spirit and how you summarized about your progress Coco. I am still working on my addiction as I must not be quite healed in the way I cope with uncomfortable emotions and the proof is in my progress over the the past 6 months. I have gone back to sugar coating my feelings. I am where I am and it's okay. TOWANDA!!!!!!!!!
