Fledgist's Journal, 30 June 2011

Amazingly, I got up this morning and found I'd passed under the 15 stone mark (210 lbs). Yay me! That's a huge step down towards my goal. I feel tremendously positive. I've hit this marker just at the end of the month, which enables me to look back and see that I've dropped 170 lbs (12 stone 2lbs, 77.27 kg) since late March 2010. I was carrying around a whole extra adult male, and now he's gone (with the wind, first published 75 years ago today). Now to get the remaining 46 lbs (3 stone 4 lbs, 20.9 kg) off.
209.6 lb Lost so far: 127.4 lb.    Still to go: 41.6 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Hi, cobngrats on reaching such a major milestone. I was born and raised with lb and oz and when I try not to convert my 'old' weight - too scary. I am sure you will reach your ultimate goal. Again, congrats.

It's realising that it takes two years to get to your goal. If I'd started out thinking 'Damn! I'll be 55 by the time I reach my goal,I'd have been daunted. Instead I focused on each pound and now I see myself in range of my goal, and looking very different from the way I did at the start. People who haven't seen me for a couple of years, or even for a few months, express surprise. That does make me feel uncomfortable because I can't see much difference in the mirror (certainly not when I get on the treadmill at the gym, the chap I see in the mirror there is a fat man).

It does take an adjustment, Bren. It's also taking a toll on my budget (buying a new dress belt every two months, for example because I get down to the last hole in my current one -- and I've gone in a year from 60" to 36" inches in belt size, while ordering trousers in 37" size).
