I may have cracked a tooth on the other side of my mouth from eating sugar-free hard candy mints. I was trying to get the bad taste of Novocaine out of my mouth from having a tooth extracted. Also, hoping the Sorbitol in them would counteract the constipation from the Codeine I was on for the tooth pain.

So eating the candy for the constipation/bad taste may have cracked a tooth on the other side. How ironic. This is why Mothers say "don't eat hard candy". I inherited the crappiest teeth on the planet. I never eat hard candy. I guess this is why.

My dentist doesn't know if it's really cracked. I just know it hurts when I put pressure on it (eating). Only a specialist can tell me. I'm too shell shocked to deal with this right now after having just had a tooth on the other side extracted. A second opinion next week will reveal more. In the meantime, I'm eating mushy food and trying to just get back to some sense of normalcy.

Pray to whatever deity you believe in on my behalf, would you please? I need all the help I can get. And if you must have hard candy, sugar free, or otherwise, don't chop them! Let them dissolve gradually! Please!! You'll thank me later.

Stick to mashed potatoes (and whatever other vegetables you can tolerate mushy (I have a mashed pumpkin/apple recipe I can share)) and nonfat greek yogurt. All will be well. Keeping you in my prayers. I know what it's like to have crappy teeth.

You have some good material for a comedy act - and no, I'm not being sarcastic. Really - have you ever though of using your trials and tribulations for comedy. I think you have some latent talent you might not even be aware of?? Seriously.

Actually, Suzy, I have enough material for Open Mic Night right now! I knew you were being serious. I've been told this before. It's not just the material, it's the delivery, and the way you look at the crap life throws you that makes these things funny for others to look at. I was truly hoping to make people laugh and not worry. The irony here was so perfect, it isn't worth worrying over. Also, the tooth pain has subsided since giving my mouth a rest, so that's a bonus. Also, Msbuggirl, I cannot eat mashed potatoes, as I'm on a low carb diet due to being an insulin resistant pre-diabetic. Not worth screwing up my blood sugar. I will stick with Atkins shakes and smushed cauliflower! Thanks to all for ideas and support!

Mrs. Mole, You do have my sympathy on your teeth issues. I grind my teeth in my sleep sometimes, which I curved the habit somewhat. I have had my front teeth completley redone with ceramic veneers. But I know dental cost are high. My teeth look good now, but I have spent over $8000 on dental work over the years and need to spend more on some crowns in the back.
