Debbie Cousins's Journal, 06 November 2022

Struggling today. I'm toward the top of my pre-set 1,550-1,650 calorie average for the week, but that little voice in my head is saying, "YOU set the amount, and you can change it if you want; so what if you go over by a couple of calories. Have whatever you want to eat." Instead of going over, I fenagled things around so that I could go ahead and have another serving of melons now, without going over 1,650 average. I was going to have 1-1/4 serving of Chinese Casserole today to finish off the last piece; but, instead I am just going to stick with the one serving. That allows me to have the additional fruit. For the moment, I'm having victory, but still feeling a little fragile today.

Hope you are not discouraged Debbie, you are still in the 220’s and in charge. Looks like you are making good decisions. How do you manage your knee pain? Ice, epsom salt baths, or do you wear knee braces? I’m sorry to hear you are in pain, you sound so happy to have your grandchildren visit, keeps you moving and busy. I am inspired by your determination. thank you

Thanks for writing, @PattiOB. To manage the knee pain, I apply Voltaren (Diclofenac) in the morning before I do my first walking stint and then again in the afternoon after I have gotten in my third 1/2-mile stint. It helps some. When they get really bad, I have to take a pain pill (Tizanidine), but I try to avoid having to do that.
