Debbie Cousins's Journal, 30 August 2022

Weight finally budged a bit this morning, from 242.2 down to 241.8. Seems like I was in the 242 range forever, though I know it has only been about a week.

This is week #10 of healthy eating for me. I've thoroughly enjoyed all the summer fruits. Not sure what I'll do in the fall and winter when we basically only have apples and oranges available.

My plan this week is to keep an average in the 1,600's calorie range. But, I am considering allowing ONE day where I can go up to just below 2,000 calories, just to keep my metabolism guessing, and to give myself a little indulgence after 9 weeks. I might just take a few of the Entennman's Rich Frosted Donut Holes out of the freezer and thaw them to have one day as a special "treat." OR, I might see if my daughter is making creme brulee anytime this week and indulge in a 5-oz container all in one day! At some point, I have to be able to allow indulgences without them sending me into a months long downward spiral.

So thankful that God has been endowing me with some self-control and motivation lately. I pray it sticks around for many more months and ultimately becomes a lifestyle for me.

May it become your lifestyle indeed. The more you practice eating this way, the more likely that will happen. You are doing fantastically well, keep up the good work. We get many fruits from Mexico and South America in the wintertime, so we have variety all year round. Doesn't any of that get to your area?

Will also miss the fresh fruit. Right now the peaches. Nice loss today.

Pears & pomegranates are 2 fruits available more in the cold weather months. Like Shir said I buy berries all year at the grocery store. There's also frozen fruit as an option.

Most things we have here only appear "in season." I'm thoroughly enjoying the cherries, which will be gone soon. Today I got a pineapple, two cantaloupes, a honeydew melon and a small watermelon. I'm going to make a fruit salad.
